[Medical Today = Reporter Jaebaek Choi] It has been revealed that exercising in the evening is more helpful in maintaining stable blood sugar levels.
A study published in the journal Obesity found that exercising in the evening is more helpful in maintaining stable blood sugar levels.
A research team from the University of Granada, Spain, studied the effects of moderate-to-high intensity physical activity periods on blood sugar metabolism.
Building on previous research showing that exercise helps improve blood sugar levels, they wanted to see if the effects of exercise on blood sugar varied across different times of day.
They used data from the EXTREME clinical trial to analyze the effects of moderate- to high-intensity exercise timing on blood sugar stability.
With an average body mass index (BMI) of 32.9, classified as obese according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),
A total of 186 adults (with an equal male-female ratio) with an average age of 46.8 years were studied, and their physical activity and blood sugar levels were recorded for 14 days using wearable devices and continuous glucose monitoring devices.
After reviewing the participants' information, the researchers tracked the participants daily according to their activity time.
▲Stationary (no moderate-to-high intensity physical activity)
▲Morning (more than 50% of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity occurs between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.)
▲Afternoon (more than 50% of moderate-to-high intensity physical activity occurs between 12:00 and 18:00)
▲Evening (more than 50% of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity occurs between 6:00 PM and 12:00 AM)
▲Classified as mixed (the time period in which more than 50% of moderate-to-high intensity physical activity occurred could not be specified).
At the same time, they tracked each participant's blood sugar levels and compared them with their physical activity data. Participants performed an average of 24 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity per day.
The research team said that participants' average blood sugar levels were 1.5 mg/dL and 1 mg/dL lower on days when they were very active and moderately active, respectively, than on days when they were inactive, reaffirming the link between moderate-to-vigorous physical activity and blood sugar stability.
Additionally, they added that participants classified as 'morning' or 'mixed' had no significant differences in blood sugar levels compared to 'sedentary' participants, whereas participants who performed moderate-to-vigorous physical activity in the 'evening' had an average blood sugar level that was 1.28 mg/dL lower than the sedentary participants.
They noted that participants classified as "afternoon" had an average blood sugar level that was 0.98 mg/dL lower than sedentary participants, and that exercising in the evening had the strongest association with lower blood sugar levels.
In other words, exercise timing may influence blood sugar control, and moderate-to-high intensity exercise in the evening was most effective in lowering blood sugar in overweight/obese adults with metabolic disease. .
In particular, the effect of exercise timing on blood sugar control was more pronounced in participants with problems with blood sugar control, and the results were consistent regardless of gender.
Meanwhile, experts say that it is true that exercising in the evening is more helpful in controlling blood sugar metabolism.
It was cautioned that morning exercise should not be avoided or stopped.
They advised that it is good to exercise whenever you have time, as exercise itself provides numerous health benefits.
=====================
How is the weather in the morning and evening, different from July?
I think I've gotten a little older
Evening exercise is good, and taking an early walk in the morning is also a good habit.
Exercise isn't something that someone else does for you.
Because the book must move on its own
I think will is the most important thing
It's time for the sun to set now.
Try taking a light walk after your meal.
