Dermatologists Never Do This! 9 Incorrect Sunscreen Methods
Wow... I don't know a lot of things.
I thought SPF 50 was much more effective, so I only bought that, butㅠㅠ

Have a joyful day.
The hot summer sun is a terrifying threat that can damage the skin. How much sunscreen should be used to protect the skin, and how often should it be reapplied?
Dr. Anthony Rosi, a dermatologist and surgeon who has treated thousands of skin cancer patients, shared in an interview with the American online media 'HuffPost' the answers to these questions and nine things he would never do.
Dr. Rosi pointed out, "Most of us know that we need to protect our skin, but we are confused by all the misinformation and myths (especially on social media) about how and when to do so."
The misconception that SPF level indicates the amount of time you can stay outside.
The SPF number, which indicates the sun protection factor, represents the level of protection provided by the product compared to not applying any sunscreen. Therefore, it does not indicate the amount of time you can stay in the sun while wearing the product.
Dr. Rosi said, "We tell everyone that SPF 30 or higher is quite good because the SPF effectiveness curve is almost flat at 30," and "Therefore, SPF 50 does not provide significantly more protection than SPF 30."
Choosing sunscreens that do not provide 'broad-spectrum protection'
To block two types of ultraviolet rays, UVA and UVB, a broad-spectrum sunscreen that provides comprehensive protection is necessary. Dr. Rosi said, "UVB causes burns and UVA accelerates aging, so A stands for aging and B for burns," and added, "Both can cause skin damage. Therefore, you need to find a broad-spectrum sunscreen that blocks both UVB and UVA."
Relying on SPF for makeup
Most makeup products do not contain a high enough SPF to provide complete protection from sunlight. Therefore, simply applying makeup may not provide sufficient SPF coverage. Dr. Rosi advises, "Always tell people to first apply a good sunscreen, let it dry, and then do their makeup," adding, "Makeup is just a bonus."
Inappropriate use of sunscreen spray
Dr. Rosi said, "Looking at how sunscreen is developed, it should be applied thinly overall," and "That's why we prefer creams, lotions, or emulsions."
However, sprays are popular because they are convenient. Repellents are effective when applied to the skin, but spraying them into the air and walking around is ineffective. Therefore, to achieve the desired effect, you need to spray it on the skin and coat the entire skin surface.
Insufficient amount of sunscreen
Dr. Rosi recommended using sunscreen the size of two fingers on the face and neck. She advised applying it not only to the fingertips but to the entire finger. Dr. Rosi said, "Depending on the size of the face, it could be the amount of three fingers."
Applying sunscreen only on summer days
Dr. Rosi said, "Simply developing the habit of applying sunscreen daily is really helpful. Even in winter and on cloudy days, UVA can pass through clouds."
Apply sunscreen only when you are outside.
Dr. Rosi warned, "People often say you don't need to apply sunscreen if you're in the office, but if you sit by the window every day, UVA can penetrate through the glass."
Excessive belief in base tanning
Dr. Rosi said, "There is no such thing as safe tanning, and one of the misconceptions from social media content is base tanning."
Dr. Rosi said, "The UV bulbs in the base tanning bed are mainly UVA bulbs. So you can still get a burn because it is a very intense amount of energy and consists of photons that are very close in a very short period of time."
Forget to protect your eyes
Dr. Rosi said, "Sunglasses are really important. Sunglasses not only protect the skin around the eyes but also actually protect the cornea from sun damage. Cataracts can actually develop due to UV exposure."
