The 'behavior' you must do after eating... worst for your health
Many people habitually drink coffee after meals. They do so to avoid sleepiness caused by food coma or unconsciously. However, post-meal coffee causes the loss of beneficial nutrients that were intentionally consumed. The tannin and caffeine components in coffee interfere with iron absorption. When iron and tannin meet, they form tannin-iron complexes, which can reduce iron absorption rates by up to half. Additionally, if caffeine encounters iron before it is absorbed in the stomach, they stick together and are excreted in the urine. Furthermore, caffeine promotes diuresis, which can increase the amount of iron expelled through urine.
Many people smoke after meals, but this habit is also harmful to health. When smoking after a meal, the component 'perillartine,' which gives cigarettes a sweet taste, is absorbed more, making the cigarette taste better. However, perillartine is a toxic substance, and the more it is absorbed, the worse it is for the body. Smoking after meals can also interfere with digestion. Nicotine in cigarettes disrupts the balance of gastric acid secretion, which can lead to indigestion and peptic ulcers.
Sitting quietly after a meal or eating dessert while seated can easily lead to weight gain. The food consumed is broken down in our bodies into nutrients such as glucose, amino acids, and fatty acids, with glucose being stored as fat. Taking a light walk for about 20 minutes immediately after a meal before the glucose is stored as fat can reduce fat accumulation. When walking, maintaining proper posture is important. Keep your upper body straight, straighten your spine and chest, and look straight ahead or slightly upward. When walking, make sure your heels touch the ground first, then step forward with the front part of your foot.
Many people take a short nap by lying face down at their desks after lunch. However, this position puts strain on the spine and should be avoided. Sleeping face down causes the neck to bend forward severely, leading to spinal curvature, and in severe cases, can even cause a herniated disc. It also constricts the chest and compresses the stomach, interfering with digestion. The best way to sleep is lying flat, but if you need to take a nap while sitting, it is better to sit upright and lean your head, neck, and back against the chair.
