Actor Ryu Su-Young (44) has revealed the recipe for 'Seolma Gochujang Noodles' (sugar, garlic, and gochujang noodles), a dish he can enjoy without feeling guilty on cheat days during his diet.

On the 13th, the tvN show 'You Quiz on the Block' aired, where actor Ryu Su-Young revealed how to make his self-developed 'Seolma Gochujang Noodles.' Previously, Ryu Su-Young showcased his cooking skills on the KBS 2TV variety program 'New Release Pantry.' As 'New Release Pantry' and Ryu Su-Young became popular among Korean international students at Stanford University in the U.S., Ryu Su-Young was also invited as a chef to the global Korean food conference organized by the Stanford K-Food Society. Ryu Su-Young said, "It was amazing to be called as someone who isn't even a professional," and "I was officially introduced as a chef in the society's pamphlet." He gave a lecture at Stanford University on the theme of 'Korean Food Going Global.' Additionally, on 'You Quiz on the Block,' Ryu Su-Young described his 'Seolma Gochujang Noodles' as "a recipe that you can eat on a diet cheat day without feeling guilty," mentioning that it contains chicken breast, onions, chili peppers, and cucumbers. We take a closer look at the diet benefits of the ingredients in Seolma Gochujang Noodles.

▷Chicken breast = Chicken breast is a representative protein food. All proteins help maintain satiety for a long time and assist in muscle growth, making them effective for healthy weight management. Proteins enhance metabolism, and when metabolism is high, calories are burned efficiently, making it easier to lose weight. Additionally, proteins take longer to break down compared to other nutrients, requiring more energy. Therefore, proteins not only aid in weight loss but also help preserve muscle mass while reducing calorie intake, keeping the body healthy. The chicken breast used by Ryu Su-young on the broadcast contains 115 kcal per 100g, with 1g of carbohydrates and 24g of protein, classifying it as a low-carb, high-protein food.

▷Onions contain an antioxidant nutrient called quercetin, which is effective for dieting. Quercetin breaks down lipids such as triglycerides and cholesterol in the body and helps eliminate them. In particular, consistently drinking onion juice prevents fat accumulation in the body, aiding in obesity prevention. If drinking onion juice feels burdensome, it is also good to accompany foods high in fat, such as pork, with onions. The sulfur-containing compound, allicin, which gives onions their spicy flavor, promotes insulin secretion that lowers blood sugar levels, helping to prevent diabetes. It also has antimicrobial effects, making it good for preventing summer food poisoning. The caloric content of onions is 35 kcal per 100 grams. Quercetin and allicin are not destroyed even when cooked. Therefore, onions can be eaten raw or grilled.

▷Chili peppers = Chili peppers are effective for dieting. The capsaicin component of chili peppers stimulates and activates beige fat. There are white, brown, and beige fats in the body. Among them, brown fat burns energy and helps prevent obesity, while beige fat functions similarly to brown fat in certain situations. When eating spicy foods, both beige and brown fats are activated. Sweating when eating spicy foods is also a phenomenon caused by beige fat burning energy and generating heat. However, eating too many spicy peppers can stimulate the stomach and intestines, causing diarrhea, and may impair liver function, so caution is advised.

Cucumber = Cucumbers contain 95% water on their own, making them a good source of hydration during dieting. They also contain various nutrients such as flavonoids and potassium, which promote diuretic effects and help expel sodium and waste products from the body. At the same time, heavy metals accumulated in the body are also expelled, helping to purify the blood. The vitamin C in cucumbers accelerates alcohol breakdown and excretion, making it effective for hangover relief. Cucumbers are low in calories, making them popular among people on a diet. They contain only 11 kcal per 100g, which is lower than bananas at 77 kcal per 100g and tomatoes at 19 kcal per 100g.
