Review of treatment at Miz Love Women's Urology Clinic for interstitial cystitis
A woman doctor diagnosed with hematuria found in the comprehensive health check-up urine test visited the urology department and underwent a cystoscopy, and was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. She received Ialuril treatment for one year.
On the first day, a urine test showed hematuria, so I underwent a cystoscopy. The bladder wall was heavily damaged by interstitial cystitis, causing the visible blood vessels to make the bladder wall appear red, and blood was leaking from the thin vessels, which was very shocking. I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis and prescribed Gelmion and Solipro tablets, and I decided to undergo treatment with Ialuril after consultation. I received treatment from October 2022 to October 2023, and each Ialuril treatment cost 250,000 won. I took Gelmion for about two months, but due to severe hair loss, I stopped, and I continued taking Solipro for frequent urination and residual urine sensation.
From the second consultation onwards, it is the same. Record the number and volume of urinations for three days before the consultation and submit the record. After a urine test and when the nurse inserts the catheter into the urethra, the doctor will come and inject Ialuril into the catheter, then have you lie around in the hospital room for 30 minutes to allow the Ialuril to adhere well to the bladder wall.
I received treatment once a week for the first two months, then once every two weeks for the next two months, and once a month for eight months. On the one-year anniversary, I underwent a cystoscopy again, and my bladder wall had significantly improved. However, since some areas were still severe, the doctor recommended continuing treatment approximately ten more times, about every two weeks.
When I filed a claim with the insurance company for medical expenses, they only applied the number of treatments listed in the leaflet for the reimbursement. Since it has been over a year since the treatment, it was within the exclusion period, so I could no longer receive coverage, which was financially very burdensome. Additionally, after receiving treatment for a long time, the affected area around the urethra enlarged, causing a tingling sensation when walking due to friction against the pants, and I also suffered from urinary tract infections three times, which was mentally very exhausting. Therefore, I just finished the treatment.
It was a very difficult process, and I don't want to go through it again. I have completely quit drinking now, and I only drink coffee very rarely, while trying to drink a lot of water.
