A review of treating migraines by taking nutritional supplements and changing lifestyle habits.
Last year, I suffered from migraines for several months. As they became increasingly severe and my quality of life deteriorated, I decided to take matters into my own hands and figured out what the cause was. I took nutritional supplements and changed my lifestyle for three to four months, and the migraines gradually disappeared, finally curing me.
Migraines have many causes: stress, lack of sleep, diet, irregular lifestyles, certain environmental factors, and more.
So I started wondering what exactly was causing my migraines, and I narrowed it down to stress and lack of sleep. I was under a lot of stress at work, so when I got home, I'd drink and play games to relieve the stress, and then go to bed late every night. It seems like about a month or two after I started this routine, the migraines started creeping in.
So, to treat my migraines, I started thinking about ways to reduce stress without disrupting my sleep. I quit drinking and gaming and instead engaged in active activities like walking, jogging, and stretching. This relieved my stress, improved my blood circulation, and overall, I felt a positive effect.
And I've been working to improve the quality of my sleep, which is paramount for treating migraines. To help me sleep better, I've taken two nutritional supplements.
First, I took L-theanine. L-theanine is said to help relieve stress by interfering with glutamate, a neurotransmitter involved in stress in the brain. It also helps with insomnia by regulating serotonin and dopamine secretion. Since my migraines were caused by stress and poor sleep quality, I figured that if L-theanine could help resolve these issues, it would naturally help with my migraines.
I also took melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that plays an important role in sleep, so I thought that if I produced enough melatonin, the quality of my sleep would improve, which would help with my migraines.
After about three to four months of trying to reduce stress and improve sleep quality to treat my migraines, my migraine symptoms gradually eased and eventually disappeared completely. Now, I'm reducing my supplement intake, maintaining good sleep, and living a healthy life.
