Four early symptoms of Parkinson's disease | The disease was already progressing.
Recognizing the early symptoms of Parkinson's disease is very important. If you can notice the early signs in advance, you can slow down the progression of the disease even a little. I regret ignoring the early symptoms because they were just mildly uncomfortable. Because I sincerely hope you will learn about them early, I want to share four early symptoms of Parkinson's disease that I ignored.
Firstly, it is hand trembling. At first, I thought it was just because I was tired. However, as the hand tremors gradually worsened and became more frequent, I started to feel discomfort in my daily life. Later, I found out that hand tremors are a typical symptom of Parkinson's disease... I especially felt severe tremors in my right hand. Afterwards, the hospital told me that it is common for tremors to appear first in one hand.
Second, it is muscle rigidity. When I wake up in the morning, my whole body feels stiff, and I experience slight discomfort whenever I move. At first, I thought it was just simple muscle soreness because I was walking vigorously, but the hospital said that a characteristic symptom of Parkinson's disease is body rigidity. The muscle rigidity, which felt like mild muscle pain at first, restricted my physical movements and made everyday activities difficult.
Thirdly, it is slow movement (bradykinesia). Routine movements gradually started to slow down. For example, walking speed gradually decreased, it took longer to pick up objects, and facial muscles slowed down, resulting in a progressively expressionless face... I didn't realize it myself, but when my daughter told me to smile and I found it difficult to do so, I became certain that there was something wrong with my body. I learned that bradykinesia is a very common symptom in Parkinson's disease patients.
Fourth, instability in posture and decreased sense of balance. Falling or stumbling has become more frequent. If these events occur often, please go to the hospital immediately. The hospital I attend said that if these symptoms appear, the disease is likely already progressing. This is due to the impact of Parkinson's disease on the nervous system, causing symptoms related to impaired balance. I recognized these symptoms only later, so I went to the hospital a bit late.
When I first visited the hospital, the doctor repeatedly emphasized that Parkinson's disease is a condition where early detection and management are crucial. If you notice any of the early symptoms I mentioned above that seem suspicious, please do not overlook them and consult a specialist immediately. I myself initially ignored small symptoms one by one, only to realize later and go to the hospital, where I now manage my symptoms through regular check-ups and treatment. If I had known about the disease a bit earlier, I might not be living a life confined to lying down like I am now... I am writing this to encourage you to check your health through the four early symptoms of Parkinson's disease I listed and to respond quickly.
