85-year-old "national actress" Samija survives near-death experience with "this diet"… What's the big deal?
Actress Samiza (85) revealed the story of how she nearly died due to health problems.
Actress Samija appeared as a guest on TV Chosun's "Healthy Home 2," which aired on the 3rd. During the episode, she revealed that she had narrowly escaped death twice in the past, saying, "I just kept running forward. I didn't even realize I was in poor health. When I think about filming a drama in 2005, I still don't want to live."
"My chest was so tight and painful, I was sweating profusely. When I sat up, everything around me was water," he said. "That's when I realized I had a heart attack. Tests showed that all three of my coronary arteries were blocked, depriving my heart muscle of blood. I underwent emergency surgery right away." His second near-death experience was due to a stroke.
"A few years later, I was in crisis again," Samiza said. "Everything was fine, but they said I had a problem. During filming, my body tilted to one side." "I didn't know what happened next, but when I went to the hospital, I had a stroke. When I opened my eyes, I was in the intensive care unit." She continued, "I think I wasn't taking care of myself before. Looking back, I think my body was sending me signals. If I had started taking care of my health sooner when I first noticed it wasn't working, I wouldn't have had two near-death experiences. I regret it so much."
The video then showed Samiza eating barley gulbi with a friend. When asked if she usually eats this healthy diet, she replied, "Yes. I usually eat mostly Korean food." But is eating Korean food actually good for your health?
◇Fermented foods and seasonal ingredients are good for your health.
Korean food is better for your health. A meal is essentially composed of rice, soup, and side dishes. Hanjeongsik, a Korean meal with a variety of side dishes, offers a more balanced nutritional intake than diets from other countries. Among these, most of the representative Korean side dishes, such as doenjang (fermented soybean paste) and kimchi, are fermented foods.
Fermented foods are rich in lactic acid bacteria, which are very beneficial for intestinal health, and are also rich in antioxidants that eliminate free radicals that attack cells. Korean cuisine also utilizes seasonal, natural ingredients and primarily uses low-fat cooking methods, such as steaming and blanching. These cooking methods are beneficial for improving conditions like obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
In fact, some research suggests that eating Korean food is healthier than Western food. A team led by Professor Kang Jae-heon of the Department of Family Medicine at Seoul Paik Hospital and Professor Ian Carterson of the Department of Endocrinology at the University of Sydney Hospital in Australia found that eating Korean food is more effective than Western food for reducing abdominal fat and improving glucose metabolism.
◇Be careful with soups and seasonings
However, not all Korean food is healthy. Even within the same Korean cuisine, it's important to choose healthy options. Be careful with soups, stews, and stews, as they tend to be high in salt and cholesterol. Avoid spicy soups as much as possible and focus on side dishes to reduce salt intake. Instead of dishes brimming with spicy seasonings, opt for vegetable wraps or grilled fish. Noodles and pancakes are also high in fat, so limit their serving size or pair them with vegetables. Furthermore, eating rice, the staple food, with brown rice or mixed grains, or with mushrooms or wild vegetables is effective for dieting and nutritional supplements.
