Old pumpkin is rich in vitamins and minerals. It is especially good for patients with hypertension and diabetes. It is gaining attention as a superfood for stroke prevention, fatigue recovery, anti-aging, and anticancer effects.

 

Old pumpkins are rich in dietary fiber, which promotes intestinal movement and prevents constipation. The sugars are easily digestible and absorbed, making them good for people with weak stomachs. They are also frequently used as recovery meals after surgery in hospitals.

 

It is also excellent for diuretic and detoxification effects. It helps patients in recovery, the elderly, and postpartum women. It is effective in alleviating swelling after childbirth or caused by diabetes. However, caution should be exercised by individuals with weak kidney function or excessively thin women.

Old pumpkin is good for dieting. With only 29 kcal per 100g, it has low calories and is rich in dietary fiber, providing a feeling of fullness. The National Cancer Institute in the United States reported that consistently consuming about half a cup of aged pumpkin daily can reduce the risk of lung cancer by half. It is also known to have anti-cancer properties and to boost resistance to colds.

Additionally, the abundant lutein in old pumpkins helps prevent cancer and protect eyesight.

 

Pumpkin seeds are also good for health. Women who consumed them regularly had a lower risk of developing breast cancer, and men showed effectiveness in preventing hair loss. Essential amino acids and vitamin E promote blood circulation in the brain and also aid in brain development.
