모기는 진짜 싫어요. 안 물렸으면 좋겠어요.
As the summer with intense mosquitoes arrives, a mosquito alert has been issued. We should be careful not to get bitten by mosquitoes. Especially, be extra cautious with infants and children.
The first malaria warning has been issued in Cheorwon. Following the alert issued nationwide by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on June 18th, this measure was taken due to an increase in the population of Anopheles mosquitoes, the malaria vectors, in Cheorwon.
Malaria alert is issued when the first cluster case (two or more cases) occurs after the malaria warning is issued, or when the average daily number of vector mosquitoes in the same city or county remains at 5.0 or higher for two consecutive weeks, in order to prevent an outbreak within the community.
The average daily mosquito population (TI) in the Cheorwon area was 5.14 in the third week of June and 11.0 in the fourth week, indicating a record of over 5.0 for two consecutive weeks.
Since this is the first time a malaria warning has been issued in the province, intensive control measures will be carried out targeting the areas around patients and the habitats of the vector mosquitoes in Cheorwon.
Director Lee Kyung-hee of the Do Welfare and Health Department emphasized, "Adhering to preventive measures is the most important," and urged, "If you experience symptoms such as fever or chills, you should immediately visit the nearest health center or medical institution for prompt diagnostic testing."
