저라면 6개월 후 다시 진료를 받을꺼 같긴해요
(Concern) I was told that macular degeneration has affected one eye.
I'm still in my 30s, but I was told I have macular degeneration.
There were no symptoms, and since I had trouble seeing clearly, I just thought it was because my eyesight had worsened.
I had a health check-up earlier this year, and it said that eye treatment is recommended on the examination report.
Since a positive reaction was observed in the eye area and it was advised to receive specialized treatment, I visited an ophthalmologist near my house just in case.
The hospital I visited said that it is called macular degeneration and is very serious, so surgery is necessary.
Macular degeneration is a degenerative disease that occurs in the macula of the eye tissue, leading to vision loss. The macula refers to the center of the retina. This macula functions to enable precise vision of objects. As people age, various changes occur in the macula, and macular degeneration is a representative change among them.
Macular degeneration does not cause your entire field of vision to become dark and live in darkness. However, the area you want to see appears dark or distorted.
I came home and discussed it with my family. I just kept sighing.
I was in a rural area, but I wondered if it would be different if I went to a large hospital in Seoul, so I looked for famous places, made a reservation, and visited two weeks later.
The hospital I visited said that it's not severe and it's dry age-related macular degeneration, so it's not yet at the surgical stage. They suggested coming back for another examination in six months.
I didn't prescribe a map~ They said there's no need to take it.
I came home and felt even more anxious because each hospital's prescription was so different.
Should I go to another hospital?
Should I wait six months to get a check-up after hearing about a large hospital?
