Pancreatitis Symptoms, Treatment, and Hospitalization Reviews
I would like to write about my experience with pancreatitis treatment and hospitalization.
I didn't really know what pancreatitis was or what the symptoms were. I was always healthy and had never had any digestive problems.
This is a story about two years ago around this time when I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and had to go through a severe recovery.
Pancreatitis Causes and Symptoms
I tend to eat dinner early, but at the time, I was managing my diet by not eating snacks or instant food before my health checkup, but after the checkup, I started eating snacks little by little and eating a lot of rice... I think that was the cause of the problem.
That day, I ate bread and suddenly my stomach hurt. My upper stomach was still full.
Normally, when digestion is complete, the upper stomach is full and then moves down. But the upper stomach was still full.
It was a different kind of pain than usual, so I took some digestive medicine and after taking it, I felt better, but then the pain started again.
At first, the stomachache was bearable, but as night fell, a stabbing pain came over me every time I breathed.
I clutched my stomach and sat down like I was in a drama.
It was the first time my stomach hurt like that, so I went straight to the emergency roomㅠㅠ
Thank goodness there's a university hospital near my house!
Pancreatic pain was like a pain in my stomach every time I breathed.
When I arrived at the hospital, I was told that if I was a woman of childbearing age, I had to do a urine test and it had to be negative before I could get the actual injection.
Negative urine test results confirmed.
I was going crazy from the pain, and I had to do a urine test, so it was really hard.
I don't know how the day went by.
Start of hospitalization for pancreatitis treatment
As I recall, the first step in treating pancreatitis was to start with intravenous fluids and antibiotics.
They were hanging like that, 3 or 4 at a time.
The day after I was admitted to the hospital, I had various tests done.
I had an electrocardiogram, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, and X-ray.
When you have pancreatitis, your amylase and lipase levels increase rapidly, more than three times.
Normal lipase level is 13-60
Normal amylase level is 30-100
The numbers and other test items could be checked through the smart app.
My shame is so highㅠㅠ The pain is so bad...
And in addition to the abdominal pain, I kept vomiting.
The hospital even prepared a container like that.
I couldn't eat properly after being hospitalized, so the vomiting got better after a day.
The abdominal pain gradually subsided. I had a slight, dull pain in my stomach for about five days, but it got better, and I was only a little uncomfortable.
Although the dietitian at the hospital provided meals, I was afraid to eat anything other than porridge during my treatment for pancreatitis because I had trouble digesting them.
Fortunately, I wasn't that hungry, maybe because I got some IV fluids and other injections.
As I got closer to being discharged, I started feeling a little better, so I ate on the day of discharge.
Discharge period
The end of pancreatitis treatment is when amylase and lipase levels return to normal.
As I was being treated for pancreatitis, my levels gradually dropped.
My blood pressure returned to normal on the 6th day of hospitalization and I was discharged after 6 days.
The lipase level came up red, but they said that this was normal.
The main causes of acute pancreatitis are alcohol and gallstones, but neither of these apply to me.
They say that people might come to me for no reason, just like me.
I think the biggest cause was probably the accumulation of bad eating habits.
They say that pancreatitis has a high recurrence rate if not properly managed.
Since being treated for pancreatitis, I have been diligently managing my eating habits, so I have not had a recurrence of pancreatitis!
I hope everyone takes good care of their eating habits!
