Review of undergoing testing for suspected hyperthyroidism symptoms
A few years ago, I was living and going about my daily life as usual...
Strangely, I feel tired and have no energy.
That year, I thought I definitely needed to carefully review the ultrasound during the health check-up.
Every year, I undergo a health check-up. I am always advised to follow up mainly on cholesterol and women's health issues, and there haven't been any other significant abnormalities. I was particularly tired and experienced some hand tremors. However, since fatigue is a common symptom for me, I didn't think much of it.
However, during a health checkup, the hospital said there might be an issue with my thyroid and advised me to get a prescription.
I never thought it could be hyperthyroidism. When I suspected it, they told me to check in detail.
Have you heard of hyperthyroidism?
Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the hormones secreted by the thyroid gland are excessively produced due to certain causes, leading to thyroid toxicosis. If it becomes severe, it can even lead to death, so it's a very frightening disease.
Symptoms of hyperthyroidism can include rapid weight loss, hand tremors, fatigue, and anxiety.
I experienced severe hand tremors and fatigue, so I had a check-up.
The check-up results showed that it was not hyperthyroidism. I was relieved.
However, since there was fatigue and hand tremors like hyperthyroidism, I think I received prescriptions suitable for that.
If you have hyperthyroidism, you might lose weight rapidly or experience shortness of breath, but fortunately, I don't think I've had any of those symptoms.
Hyperthyroidism tests are conducted through blood tests to measure the concentration of the thyroid gland.
It is diagnosed through hormones in the blood.
If you develop hyperthyroidism, you need to take medication consistently, and if you stop the medication, it may relapse again.
I also tend to have always poor results with thyroid issues.
It is not possible to completely rule out hyperthyroidism.
I need to manage it well starting now.
