Has anyone stopped taking their cholesterol medication?
I had a procedure to remove gallstones from my gallbladder about four years ago.
Since then, I had blood tests at the hospital every six months, and my LDL cholesterol levels were occasionally higher than the standard. The doctor prescribed cholesterol medication, and I have been taking it consistently for over three years.
Of course, any medication can have side effects, but some side effects of cholesterol medication also include an increase in blood sugar levels.
It's hard to say it's because, but my fasting blood sugar levels are also slightly above the standard.
I asked my doctor about stopping the cholesterol medication, and he said that the levels would rise immediately if I stop taking the medication. I'm curious if that's really true.
I'm also curious whether it's difficult to stop once you start taking cholesterol medication.
Has anyone stopped taking their cholesterol medication?
I'm not confident, but I'm curious if it's possible to lower LDL cholesterol levels without medication through diet and exercise.
