August 22 (Thursday) "I thought it was a common mouth ulcer"... ๐
Oral inflammation lasting more than 3 weeks... biopsy needed!!
ย
Inflammation originating from the oral mucosa from the mouth to the throat is common. It appears on the lips, tongue, gums, palate, and inside of the cheeks. This is called stomatitis. While it is often relatively easy to treat, ulcers that do not respond to 2-3 weeks of treatment may warrant suspicion of oral cancer or tongue cancer.
Whenever I get a little tired or stressed, I inevitably develop mouth ulcers. Fortunately, getting a good night's sleep or applying oral inflammation medication usually helps within a few days, but I'm a bit scared because it's said that if these mouth ulcers last a long time, it's not good.

๐ซฆCan be observed with the eyes... Various inflammations occurring inside the mouth
ย
Mouth ulcers are easily visible to the naked eye. In cases of infectious inflammation, there are simple herpes (herpes simplex) stomatitis, hand-foot-mouth disease, and oral candidiasis. Simple herpes stomatitis involves small vesicular lesions of 1-2mm that rupture to form ulcers. Hand-foot-mouth disease presents with vesicular rashes on the tongue, palate, and cheek mucosa as well as on the hands, feet, and buttocks. Oral candidiasis appears as white or red spots on the tongue, cheek mucosa, and palate.
ย
When experiencing severe fatigue and stress... What are the symptoms?
ย
Simple herpetic stomatitis appears when fatigue and stress are severe. Causes also include ultraviolet rays, fever, upper respiratory infections, gastrointestinal disorders, menstruation, and pregnancy. Symptoms include body weakness, fever, irritability, and muscle pain. Hand-foot-and-mouth disease, which mainly affects children, is a contagious skin and mucous membrane disease caused by infection with Coxsackievirus A, characterized by the formation of blisters on the hands, feet, buttocks, and oral mucosa. Symptoms also include fever, cough, sore throat, loss of appetite, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and headache.
ย
What is the common oral inflammation in women in their 50s and 60s?
ย
There is aphthous stomatitis caused by non-infectious stomatitis. It accounts for about 20% of oral mucosal diseases and is the most common. The most common form is childhood aphthous stomatitis, known as canker sores. Usually, one or more relatively small ulcers (2-10mm) develop on the oral mucosa, including the buccal mucosa, palate, and tongue. Oral burning syndrome, which is more common in women in their 50s and 60s, presents as a burning sensation on the tongue or oral mucosa that persists for 4 to 6 months.
ย
How to prevent stomatitis?
ย
There are non-pharmacological treatments for stomatitis as well. In cases of stomatitis caused by deficiencies in nutrients such as vitamin B12 or iron, supplementing these nutrients can be helpful (Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency data). To prevent stomatitis, it is recommended to maintain adequate nutrition, get enough rest, manage stress, practice good oral hygiene, quit smoking, limit alcohol consumption, take care of your teeth, and avoid spicy foods.
