Long-lasting stye: My experience getting it drained at the hospital!!
Stye I've never seen since birth. If left to heal naturally, the symptoms last longer and may worsen.
Applying warm compresses is good for management, and visiting the hospital is the most effective for early recovery!!
Please look with blurry eyes. It's creepy.
(Condition for about 2-3 days)
Recently, I had a stye. Since it was the first time in my life, I thought it was nothing serious and that it would go away after a few days.
Even after two days, the redness and swelling did not improve, and the discomfort inside my eye did not go away. Since it was the weekend, I couldn't go to the hospital, so I bought eye drops at the pharmacy and used them. After Monday passed and the symptoms did not improve, and I felt that the double eyelid line was overall more swollen and enlarged, I went to the ophthalmologist.
First, I had my eye condition checked at the ophthalmology department, received infrared treatment, and was prescribed a three-day supply of oral medication and eye drops. The doctor said that if my eye condition does not improve after three days of medication, I should visit the hospital again.

The medication from the pharmacy didn't show much effect, but the medication prescribed by the hospital, which contains antibiotics, clearly works faster and more effectively.
After taking the hospital medication, I felt like I had crust in my eyes the very next day. It seemed like there was discharge coming from my eyes.
After taking the hospital medication for about three days, the overall swelling along the double eyelid line definitely decreased, but the symptoms in the center of the eyes did not go away.
I finished all my prescribed medication and thought I should get another round, so I went to the hospital... but the doctor said that the medication wouldn't help and that I need to have a stye removed. It seems there was pus accumulated inside my eyeㅜㅜ
(One week later)
Stye incision surgery takes about 2-3 minutes, which is quite short.
- First, anesthesia eye drops are applied.
It looks like they flip the eyelid inside out and give about two injections of anesthesia.
- Puncture the pus in the turned-over eyelid (also feels like a slight prick from an injection) and squeeze the pus in various directions.
- Then, hemostasis is achieved with cotton, and ointment is applied.
After the procedure, please wait in the lounge for about 5-10 minutes for an overall massage.
What is a stye?
Suppurative inflammation occurring on the eyelid. There are various types of glands in the eyelid, and this is an acute inflammation that occurs in these glands. In severe cases, pus may be trapped.
What kind?
- Three types
Treatment and prevention?
Although there is quite a bit of pain, in cases of external or internal stye, it is common for the condition to improve on its own after about a week. However, it is better to visit an ophthalmologist and receive appropriate treatment rather than just leaving it alone. Taking antibiotics available at the pharmacy can be effective, and visiting a hospital is recommended for a quicker recovery.
When visiting the clinic, most treatments involve medication because it is an inflammatory disease caused by bacteria, so antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs are used together. It is common to prescribe both oral medication and eye drops simultaneously. With medication treatment, recovery can be faster than just leaving it untreated.
Since medication is not very effective and the duration is long for a stye, warm compresses are essential. When the temperature is high, the opening of the abscess enlarges, which speeds up the drainage of pus.
Even if it is an external or internal stye, it is better to treat it promptly. Gently press a towel soaked in hot water against the affected area of the eye, once to four times a day, for about 5 to 15 minutes each time. After applying heat, washing lightly with soapy water enhances the effectiveness.

After removing the stye, my eye is swollen as if bitten twice or three times, and for about 2-3 hours, it feels throbbing, with a tingling and stinging sensation.
After the rash, pus and blood traces may appear from the eyes every few hours when wiped.
Certainly, after removing the pus and pus, the swelling and symptoms improved significantly within 2-3 days.
I thought it was a disease that would heal naturally after a few days when the symptoms first appeared, but it wasn't.
What I feel is that as soon as you notice the symptoms of a stye, you should immediately apply warm compresses and take care of it.
And go to the hospital to get a prescription!! That way, you can resolve the issue quickly with medication in the early stages. If you wait until symptoms pass a little like I did, it won't heal quickly with medication, and it will look ugly and be difficult. Also, if medication doesn't work, there are cases where you need to cut it, so visiting the hospital is the best for a quick recovery!!
