A review of a visit to an ophthalmologist for treatment of astigmatism
I originally had floaters due to high myopia. Then, I developed photopsia, a condition where I saw flashing lights in front of my eyes. So, I went to the ophthalmologist I'd been seeing for floaters treatment. I'd like to share some information about floaters treatment.
1. What is a certificate of non-disclosure?
Commonly called floaters, this is a condition where things like dust flies float in front of your eyes and follow you when you change your field of vision.
2. What causes astigmatism?
Our eyes have a vitreous humor, which is 90% water. When the interior of this vitreous becomes cloudy, shadows are cast on the retina, creating a floating sensation. These floaters are mostly caused by aging, which is natural! However, they can also be caused by pathological conditions such as high myopia, retinal tears, retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage, diabetic retinopathy, or uveitis.
3. Is there any treatment for asthenopia?
There is usually nothing that can be done to treat the condition. However, if you suddenly develop floaters or have photopsia, a symptom of flashing lights in front of your eyes, you need to get an eye exam. I also had floaters originally, but developed photopsia. So, I went to an ophthalmologist for treatment and a thorough examination. I was diagnosed with no retinal abnormalities. While there's no fundamental treatment for floaters, regular checkups are essential. I've also made an appointment every six months.
4. What can be done to treat asthenopia?
There is no fundamental treatment for astigmatism, but it is important to prevent it from getting worse. I also have dry eye. Start taking omega-3 I have been taking Omega 3 consistently because it is said to improve the lipid layer of the tear film, prevent tear evaporation, and keep the eyes moist.
