These days, with the advancement of psychiatry, a lot of information is coming out about ADHD, which was not even a concept in the past.
So, the number of people actually diagnosed is increasing day by day.
In the past, we just passed it off as a child with a bit of inattention, but these days, everyone actually gets tested. ADHD treatment They say that's because there are many patients who do this.
My cousin is also in this case.
Adults received from the Department of Psychiatry ADHD treatment I'm sharing my review.
I lived with my cousin for a while during this summer vacation.
At first, I thought my younger sibling was just young, had trouble paying attention, and was not good at organizing things.
I've been watching him since he was little, but after living in the same house and watching him closely, I started to think that he wasn't just simply forgetful, but had ADHD.
The symptoms I felt from my brother were
He was very lazy, distracted, extremely forgetful and his conversation flow was not normal.
Even when having a conversation about A, most of the time I would respond with completely unrelated topics like B or Z.
Even while cleaning my room, I would suddenly start watching TV, then watch TV and read a book, then read a book and go for a walk. I almost never finished one thing at a time.
There are so many more things than this, but I think this post will be incredibly long, so I'll stop talking about the symptoms here...ㅠ
My younger brother said that he was aware of his own inattention and that he had heard from people around him that his inattention was at the level of ADHD.
I just became an adult, so if it is ADHD, I should have diagnosed it as soon as possible when I was young. therapy I thought it would be a good idea to start with, so I cautiously recommended the test.
So I made an appointment at a psychiatry clinic, and once I made the appointment, they sent me a simple pre-examination questionnaire via KakaoTalk before the treatment.
There were about a dozen lightweight tests, including the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale, which I took with them and they were pretty basic.
We checked the questionnaire together.
I also felt like I wouldn't be able to do it objectively if I did it alone.
After submitting the pre-examination and arriving at the hospital, you will be given instructions and a simple self-test form while you wait.
So there's a table right in the waiting room.
After checking the self-test and waiting, you will begin the actual examination.
The test was called CAT.
My younger sibling went into the examination room alone and said they did a simple test on the computer.
The test my younger brother told me about
The test was to look at the shape and press the arrow, press the button when the shape was the same or the sound was the same, and remember the order.
He said it was really easy when he tried it.
He said that the test, which was supposed to take 30 minutes, took over 40 minutes, so he said that it was too long and that he had to redo some of the questions because he got them wrong.
He said that he got annoyed because he kept making mistakes, and that because there were so many items, his already blurry concentration kept getting blurred in the latter half.
So, he said he stretched and played on his phone in between.
Here I thought again that this guy really does have ADHD haha
I guess it was meant to be a test of concentration and attention.
Once the test is completed, you will have a consultation with the doctor, holding the pad with the results in front of you.
First, they asked me about the simple self-test I did while waiting.
And I asked in detail if there were any problems while attending school, and the principal was very kind, so my younger sibling was able to talk in a comfortable atmosphere.
I spoke to my younger brother about things he wasn't aware of himself.
After talking like that, he showed me the final results.
I was really surprised when I saw this.
I was shocked and my younger sibling was shocked that all 6 tests were red and yellow.
Normal people say that they usually come out all green.
And, they say that even if there is a lot of red like my younger sibling, there are cases where it is difficult to diagnose as ADHD.
They say there is also a type of ADHD called silent ADHD, or ADHD that doesn't show up.
Maybe because the child was nervous, he didn't read the questions properly and didn't press all the buttons he was asked to press.
So, on average, I made more mistakes than I should have...
ADHD treatment I was prescribed medication for this, but instead of the hospital prescribing it on their own, they explained the medication to me and asked me which medication would be better.
My younger brother is the first ADHD therapy So I decided to start with the most commonly used medicine + the medicine with the lowest dosage.
There were fewer types of medicine than I thought, and they said I only needed to take one type of medicine per day.
As expected, the side effects of the drug include nausea, insomnia, and dizziness.
My younger sibling also felt nauseous at first, but he's fine now.
First of all, ADHD therapy They said that you have to take the medicine consistently for about a month to see the effects.
Since medicine doesn't take effect immediately after taking it, I think it's important to take it consistently.
At first, you visit once a week to adjust the medication, and after that, you find the right medication.
My younger sibling had to go home to another region a week after receiving the prescription, so I wrote a medical opinion so that he could receive the prescription at another hospital.
There were moments when I just thought it was funny to see my brother's actions and daily life while I was there for a short time during the summer, but there were also moments when I didn't understand and moments when I got angry. That wasn't because he had a bad attitude, it was because of ADHD, and ultimately because of ADHD. therapy It was something I had to receive.
I think I felt it to some extent myself, but I was avoiding it.
But since I got a definite diagnosis, I took medication and had ADHD. therapy I feel fortunate that I have a strong will to overcome it.
We're planning to meet again in the winter, so I'm looking forward to seeing how things have changed.
If you know someone who is overly distracted, or if you've tried a self-test and wondered if it's you, I think it would be a good idea to get tested!!
