This year's most popular dining-out menu is kimbap... Samgyeopsal has exceeded 20,000 won 😨

The days when a single kimbap cost a thousand won... haha

Do you remember?

It was a very, very long time ago...

Now, a vegetable kimbap costs around 3,500 to 4,000 won.

There are places that are more expensive as well..

They say that kimbap has increased the most in price.

So I also make kimbap at home..

Or maybe it's hard for the whole family to eat together;;

Pork belly costs more than 20,000 won.

Prices are rising, and life is getting tough;;;

There is no increase in salary, but prices are rising at a frightening rate 😨

The food item with the largest price increase among major dining-out menus this year was kimbap.

According to the Korea Consumer Agency's Price Information Portal 'Chamgakgyeong' on the 15th, the average price in Seoul for 8 popular dining-out menus favored by consumers from January to November this year increased by an average of 4.0%.

Looking at the menu items, the increase in kimbap was the largest. It rose from 3,323 won in January this year to 3,500 won last month, a 5.3% increase.

During the same period, jjajangmyeon increased from 7,069 won to 7,423 won, and bibimbap rose from 10,654 won to 11,192 won, each by 5.0%.

▲Cold noodles (11,385 won → 11,923 won) 4.7% ▲Kalguksu (9,038 won → 9,385 won) 3.8% ▲Pork belly (200g equivalent, 19,429 won → 20,830 won) 3.4% ▲Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) (16,846 won → 17,629 won) 2.5% ▲Kimchi stew set meal (8,000 won → 8,192 won) 2.4%, among others.

One of the most preferred dining-out menus among Koreans, Samgyeopsal (200g equivalent), first exceeded 20,000 won in Seoul this May. Samgyetang also reached the 17,000 won mark in July.

This trend is expected to continue for some time.

Due to the ongoing strong dollar phenomenon influenced by the Middle East war and the U.S. presidential election, import prices have already risen for two consecutive months, increasing by 2.1% in October and 1.1% last month. It is expected that prices will rise even more sharply this month, especially after the martial law situation on the 3rd.

When import prices rise, the cost of various ingredients sourced from abroad increases, which can lead to a delayed rise in dining-out prices.

The won-dollar exchange rate temporarily exceeded 1,440 won immediately after the declaration of martial law, and has since fluctuated around 1,430 won. As of the 13th, it is nearly 70 won higher than the average exchange rate for this year (based on Hana Bank's buying and selling rate of 1,362.30 won).

    김밥싸려고 재료사다보면 김부터 당근까지 가격이 두배이상 올라서 김밥도 안오를수가 없겠던데요. 당근 두세배 올라서 제가 남의 김밥집 마진 걱정을 많이 했답니다^^
