Don't just boil plain thin noodles! Here's a life hack you'll use forever in just 2 minutes~

Noodle Somen Boiling & Storage Tips

How to boil thin wheat noodles

Do you just boil the thin wheat noodles?

I'll share four easy ways to solve the discomfort that occurs when eating thin wheat noodles today.

Cutting next to the noodle bag

Do you cut the top part of the noodle bag when opening it?

Because of the nature of the noodles being long, cutting the top part can be inconvenient.

Especially, I find it really inconvenient to remove the noodles or reseal them.

Now, cut the side part of the noodle bag instead of the top part. It will make things much more convenient!

When lying on the side, the space becomes wider, making it really easy to remove the noodles.

When sealing, simply roll up the noodle bag and tie it with a rubber band for easy sealing.

2. Confirm the portion size of one serving of noodle soup

Do you always fail to adjust the portion size of a single serving of noodles?

Usually, they say you can hold a 500-won coin with your finger.

It seems insufficient, and if I keep adding, I inevitably fail to control the portion size.

In such cases, prepare a single PET bottle opening. Cut the PET bottle opening part and align it with the single serving line; you'll see that it fits perfectly!

Now, don't fail to adjust the amount each time; insert noodles into the mouth of the PET bottle to check before boiling.

Then, you can easily and always measure the perfect single serving of noodles without fail.

3. How to prevent noodles from boiling over

When boiling thin wheat noodles, the water always boils over.

I used to believe that simply putting down a wooden ladle would solve the problem, but I have been surprised more than once when it boiled over.

Now, try using cooking oil instead of a wooden spoon. First, dab an appropriate amount of cooking oil onto a paper towel.

Before boiling the noodles, you should apply a thin layer of cooking oil around the edge of the pot.

By applying cooking oil along the edges like this, it prevents the noodles from overflowing with foam, so you can boil with confidence!

4. How to store leftover somyeon noodles

If you store the remaining somyeon in the refrigerator, it hardens and becomes difficult to eat later.

Now, try mixing in a spoonful of sesame oil. This will coat the noodles with sesame oil, so even after storing in the refrigerator, they won't stick together and will be easy to separate.
