Vaginitis that causes foul odor and itching is better controlled by wiping with 'feminine hygiene products'.
Vaginitis, an inflammation caused by bacterial infection of the vagina, is like a cold for women. It occurs very frequently not only when the immune system is weakened but also during normal times, and recurs often. Especially during humid and hot weather like now, increased secretions such as sweat create a persistently moist environment in the vulva, further increasing the recurrence rate of vaginitis.
◇When the environment becomes humid, it occurs... causes odors
Vaginitis is classified into bacterial vaginitis, candidiasis, trichomoniasis, etc., depending on the cause. In particular, candidiasis caused by the proliferation of a type of fungus called Candida is so common that 75% of women experience it at least once in their lifetime. It mainly occurs when the immune system is weakened, when wearing tight clothing, or when wearing sanitary products such as panty liners for extended periods, which create a moist environment in the vagina.
The vagina always secretes lubrication to protect the vaginal walls. This secretion is originally clear and odorless. However, if inflammation occurs in the vagina, the color changes, the amount increases, and it may have a strong odor. Many people also complain of itching in the vulva.
Use a mildly acidic cleanser and thoroughly remove moisture.
When washing, it is better to use a mildly acidic feminine hygiene product that maintains vaginal pH at 3.8 to 4.5, rather than regular alkaline soap or body wash. However, feminine hygiene products should only be used 2 to 3 times a week. Excessive washing of the internal vagina can actually remove beneficial bacteria. After showering, thoroughly dry with a soft towel and put on underwear. Leaving the area wet can promote the growth of fungi and bacteria, increasing the risk of vaginitis. Especially after swimming in summer or taking a bath, it is advisable to carefully wash and thoroughly dry the genital area. Avoid wearing stockings, leggings, or tight-fitting clothes regularly, and opt for breathable cotton underwear.
