I am experiencing chronic fatigue.

I'm so tired no matter how much I sleep, I think I have chronic fatigue.

You often say things like this, right??

But... the chronic fatigue mentioned in this statement is actually a real medical condition.

The correct medical term is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

It's not just chronic fatigue; it's classified as a syndrome.

My husband is exactly like this... I'm worried that I might experience burnout again because of this.

So, I looked into chronic fatigue syndrome.

Definition

Chronic fatigue syndrome refers to a condition characterized by unexplained fatigue that persists or recurs for more than six months without a specific underlying disease, significantly affecting daily life. Normal fatigue is relieved by rest. In contrast, chronic fatigue syndrome does not improve with rest, and symptoms of fatigue that worsen with mental and physical activity continue to occur, causing substantial disruption to daily activities. About 2-5% of patients complaining of chronic fatigue have chronic fatigue syndrome. The main causes of chronic fatigue syndrome are depression and excessive work-related stress.

 

Symptoms
The symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome can vary from person to person. The most common symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome are as follows.

 

1. Experiencing severe fatigue without any specific cause, and this fatigue persists for more than six months.
② Symptoms such as decreased concentration, memory impairment, sleep disturbances, and gastrointestinal issues appear.
In addition to this, they may experience various symptoms such as abdominal pain, chest pain, loss of appetite, nausea, difficulty breathing, weight loss, depression, and anxiety.

 

Treatment
There is no specific cure for chronic fatigue syndrome. Treatments that are relatively effective in improving patients' symptoms and have accumulated research evidence include cognitive-behavioral therapy and gradual aerobic exercise therapy. Although many other treatments have been proposed, there is still considerable disagreement among experts and a lack of sufficient evidence.

1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a form of psychological treatment. Cognitive-behavioral factors are related to the worsening of symptoms. For this reason, cognitive-behavioral therapy is used to treat chronic fatigue syndrome. Important elements of treatment include explanations of the causes, motivation for treatment, recognition of fatigue-related situations, attempts to change fatigue-inducing situations, achievement and maintenance of basic physical activities, gradual increase of physical activity, attempts at work rehabilitation, and restoration of personal life. Patients learn how to respond to symptoms while achieving these elements.

② Gradual aerobic exercise therapy
Gradual aerobic exercise therapy includes walking, cycling, and swimming. It is recommended to start under the guidance of a physical therapist. It is important to increase the exercise intensity very slowly and gradually. Sometimes, symptoms may worsen after starting exercise. In such cases, professional assistance should be sought.

 

 

The best way is to eliminate the cause, but in reality, that's not easy.
I think I know how to properly relieve the stress I receive in daily life, and I should also make an effort to do so.
Finding out which method is the best method.

    오랜시간 피로가 누적되면 만성피로 증후군이 될것 같아요. 피로는 그때그때 잘풀어 줘야 좋겠지만 뜻대로 안될때도 있지요.
    단순히 푹쉬거나 푹 자는것 만으로 해결이 안될때는피로회복에 좋은 활성비타민 같은것 드셔보셔도 도움이 될것 같군요.
