Go straight to the bathroom immediately after eating... Be especially careful with 'this food'

It is caused by stimulation. If this situation occurs during outdoor activities, it can lead to significant discomfort. We look into foods that promote bowel movements.

◇ Coffee accelerates digestion but burdens the stomach

Chlorogenic acid in coffee is a type of polyphenol that promotes gastric acid secretion, accelerating the digestion process. As a result, food in the stomach quickly moves to the intestines, allowing for rapid bowel movement signals. Coffee also increases the secretion of the hormone gastrin, which is released from the lower part of the stomach. Gastrin stimulates the secretion of gastric acid and pancreatic juice, promoting movement in the stomach, small intestine, and large intestine, thereby inducing the sensation of needing to defecate.

However, drinking coffee to relieve constipation symptoms is not recommended. If the digestion process speeds up due to coffee components, food may not be properly digested, putting a burden on the stomach. Additionally, the theobromine in coffee acts as a diuretic, reducing body fluids and potentially hardening the stool. This can actually worsen constipation.

◇Beer and makgeolli more likely to cause diarrhea

Drinking alcohol also promotes bowel movements. This is because the alcohol stimulates the mucosal villi of the intestinal lining. The intestinal mucosal villi absorb water and nutrients from the ingested food, but when alcohol is consumed, this function diminishes, resulting in softer stool. The intestines stimulated by alcohol also experience faster muscular contractions. Therefore, stool is expelled before sufficient water is absorbed into the body. Additionally, alcohol interferes with the secretion of digestive fluids such as bile, making digestion more difficult. In particular, patients with irritable bowel syndrome may experience more severe diarrhea after drinking alcohol. Fermented beverages like beer, makgeolli, and wine contain high sugar content, which more readily induces diarrhea. Sugar remains in the colon, retaining water and preventing its absorption into the body, thus softening the stool. For individuals with irritable bowel syndrome who have sensitive intestines, alcohol consumption is strongly discouraged.

Like coffee, alcohol can provide temporary bowel movement relief, but in the long run, it can worsen constipation because alcohol increases urine output and reduces body hydration.

◇Prune, promotes bowel movements to improve constipation

Prunes are rich in dietary fiber, which promotes bowel movements. When dietary fiber enters the large intestine, it binds with water and ions, softening the stool and increasing its volume. This naturally leads to an increase in the frequency and amount of bowel movements. Therefore, prunes also help improve constipation. In fact, it is known that in foreign countries, elderly people often eat prunes as a snack to prevent and treat constipation. 100 grams of prunes contain about 7 grams of dietary fiber, which is three times the amount found in apples. According to a 2011 study by a research team at the University of Iowa College of Medicine, the average bowel movement frequency of constipation patients who ate prunes increased from 1.8 times per week to 3.5 times, nearly doubling.

◇Caution if you have milk or lactose intolerance

People with lactose intolerance often go to the bathroom immediately after drinking milk. Lactose intolerance is a metabolic disorder where the body cannot digest lactose, the sugar found in milk, due to a deficiency of the enzyme lactase. Undigested lactose draws water into the small intestine, causing bloating, cramps, and diarrhea. If the intolerance is mild, it is better to warm the milk before drinking; if severe, it is advisable to avoid milk and foods containing milk as much as possible. If you want to drink milk, consuming lactose-free milk that has had the lactose removed is also an option.

=====================

Prunes are still coming out during bowel movements.

Three times as much as an apple

It seems that Blue is good.

Is it like a slightly dried plum?
