Can you tell me the types of allergies?

I am struggling so much with persistent cough, sneezing, and runny nose. I cough so much at night that I can't sleep. At first, I thought it was a cold, but now I think it might be allergic rhinitis. They told me to go to a large hospital for tests. If I go to an ENT specialist, can they find out which allergen is causing the allergic reaction?

Is medication the only treatment option available?

I'm feeling really overwhelmed. I feel self-conscious about sneezing, coughing, and being aware of others in public places.
