(Story) My review of trying traditional Korean medicine for weight loss
About two years ago, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, I noticed my weight gradually increasing too much, so I decided to go on a diet. However, I wasn't confident to do it alone, so I tried a traditional Korean medicine diet. There are clinics specializing in dieting, but I just went to the clinic where I occasionally received treatment, and they prescribed me diet medication there.
Go initially, take the InBody measurement, fill out the questionnaire, and have a consultation with the director.
It's not quite obesity, but it's overweight. Still, since I have muscle mass, I think I will lose weight well.
I checked whether drinking coffee affects my sleep, eating, sleeping, or bowel movements on the questionnaire, but since I am not sensitive to coffee and don't experience much discomfort, they didn't ask me many questions about it.
Precautions
Avoid consuming things with sugar (especially beverages) as much as possible.
Make sure to eat breakfast. Include healthy carbohydrates.
If you can't eat breakfast, at least chew gum. Do some jaw exercises... I think that's what it was about.
Eat regular lunch but consume about two-thirds of the rice.
Dinner is a protein-focused meal.
Finish eating at least 4 hours before sleeping.
Oh, I think these are the things I remember.
I received a personalized herbal medicine prescription, and it was supposed to be taken before meals. I take it before eating, about 20 to 30 minutes later, I have my meal. When I take the herbal medicine, I feel a slight dryness in my mouth afterward, but I don't really get a strong craving to eat something.
If your food intake decreases, you might experience constipation, fatigue, or headaches. The herbal medicine was prescribed considering these issues, so I didn't feel anything particularly difficult or any side effects.
At first, it was difficult to finish dinner four hours before sleeping more than anything else, but even if I didn't stick exactly to four hours, not eating anything before bed made my stomach feel much more comfortable.
I went for an InBody test after two weeks and lost about 4 kilograms. I received a new herbal medicine prescription and continued taking it.
I went for check-ups every two weeks, took herbal medicine, and continued for two months, losing about 12 kilograms in total, and since then I have been managing on my own.
It has been maintained well without significant increase so far.
While taking herbal medicine, my appetite was well controlled, and during that period I paid attention to my diet, so even after finishing the diet, I didn't crave or binge on spicy foods, which I think helped me manage it well.
Although I lost weight faster than I expected, I think it's important not to be too impatient with dieting.
