Three exercise efforts for managing a herniated disc

I have a herniated disc in my lower back. ㅜ.ㅜ

I have a habit of crossing my legs when sitting in a chair.

I've been trying to fix it for a long time, but it became a habit.

This is really difficult.

Maybe that's why I've been having back pain for a long time ㅜㅜ

There is a herniated disc in the lower back from the health checkup.

It comes out, you know. ㅜ.ㅜ

My back hurt over something trivial.

For example

1. When children are young, they often fall off the bed.

I lived on the floor.

Twisted while tidying up the blanket

2. The child exerted strength, so while lifting and moving, they sprained something.

3. I really woke up feeling unbelievable, just a little twisted.

So I had to go to the hospital.

I have been visiting a Korean medicine clinic since my thirties.

I went to the hospital because I was painfully sick like this.

Teacher

You're young, but already making a big deal out of nothing.

If you have a herniated disc in your lower back

Really, getting older

They said it would be a big problem.

I was really worried about that too.

So, I started with exercise.

Until now, I haven't done any exercise except for breathing.

In my mid-20s, I transformed from a chubby girl to a slim figure.

There was no particular reason to exercise.

Eat, play, rest, and that's it...

Thinking about your back

Exercise started right after turning forty.

This is Pilates.

It's a workout using equipment.

I've been doing it since 2022.

I exercised while correcting my posture.

Certainly due to a herniated disc in the lower back

I don't have any reason to go to the hospital.

And further developed in Pilates

This is Bare.

Full-body exercise

Using small tools

balls, discs, dumbbells, bands, etc.

Use a variety of tools.

Proceeding with fast-paced music

Really, I keep hydrating intermittently.

I am exercising.

The last exercise I manage is 바로

It is walking.

This summer was really, really hot.

Walking indoors.

Using the exercise equipment called the Stairs of Heaven

Climbing stairs as if hiking.

The finishing touches involve walking on a treadmill.

It takes about 40 to 50 minutes.

The sweat is really overwhelming.

If you do not manage it this way

Due to a herniated disc in the lower back

Because of the pain

I'm really diligently managing it these days.

Maybe that's why I've been going to the hospital recently for a herniated disc.

I'm so glad I don't have to go.

As expected, it's for health.

It was exercise.

Because I have a herniated disc in my lower back

I decided to look up the information.

The official name of a herniated disc is intervertebral disc herniation.

The intervertebral disc, which is located between the vertebrae and absorbs shock, for various reasons

It is a condition that pushes out of its original position, compresses surrounding nerves, and causes pain.

What is the cause of a herniated disc?

  • 01 Degenerative changes in the spine due to aging

As we age, the natural process of aging also affects the spine. Due to aging, the spinal discs gradually lose elasticity, and the outer wall of the spine, which has lost moisture, becomes more susceptible to damage even from minor impacts. Ultimately, cracks in the annulus fibrosus allow the inner nucleus pulposus to protrude, pressing on the nerves.

  • 02 Sudden physical trauma (such as traffic accidents and other injuries)

A sudden strong impact on the lower back directly affects spinal disc rupture and herniation. When the spine is weakened, the risk of disc damage is even greater, and even if there are no significant issues with the lower back normally, it can lead to acute lumbar disc herniation.

  • 03 Lifting heavy objects

There are quite a few patients who injure their backs and are diagnosed with a herniated disc after lifting heavy objects and twisting their backs. This is because when you bend only your waist to lift an object, a load equivalent to ten times the weight of the object is directly applied to the spine. Therefore, it is better not to lift objects using only your upper body strength, but to sit completely down and lift slowly.

  • 04 Improper posture and lifestyle habits

The worst posture for the spine in daily life is sitting. Especially, leaning the upper body forward or resting the body against the backrest of a chair has an even more negative impact on the spine. Additionally, maintaining the same posture for a long time, putting stress on the spine due to being overweight, and repeatedly performing exercises that excessively rotate the waist can also cause herniated discs.
