I visited a traditional Korean medicine hospital and an orthopedic clinic because I suspected symptoms of a cervical disc herniation.
Today, I will introduce a story about visiting the hospital due to suspected cervical disc issues and my experience of treating myself at home.
It wasn't a cervical disc issue, so I managed it at home as a preventive measure.
This is a message that can improve significantly with prevention and management!
I am the type who gets a sore throat very easily.
So I was worried about a herniated disc in my neck.
If I lift something a little heavier or exert force to move, I quickly get a cramp.
It was really severe in the morning, but it gets better as the afternoon comes.
On a certain day, I caught a cold again, and no matter what I tried, it didn't work, so I ended up visiting a traditional Korean medicine hospital.
While getting acupuncture, I was told to move my neck, and it was very difficult at first, but surprisingly, my neck started to move.
I received treatment at an oriental medicine hospital about three times, thought I was fully recovered, and went about my daily life, but my neck started hurting again very badly.
So, I thought this couldn't be fixed just by getting acupuncture, so I went to the orthopedic department and took a neck X-ray.
I was really worried that it might be a herniated disc in my neck.
Maybe it's because I've seen people around suffering from neck disc issues, but I was also scared.
When I took the picture, I was told that I have a straight neck, which causes muscle tightness and ongoing pain, and there are also posture issues.
Isn't it that from straight neck to turtle neck to cervical disc problems, it gets worse?
I'm worried about the future, haha.
Since then, I have been continuously searching for and doing neck stretch exercises on YouTube, and I have made a lot of effort to maintain good posture.
But maybe because I suffered with this for such a long time, it took a lot of time to get better.
I discovered a stretching exercise that involves rolling up a towel to correct the neck.
I really like it because it's a workout that anyone can easily do at home without spending any money, so I tried it for a few days.
But really surprisingly, after doing this stretching for a few days, I definitely didn't get cramps.
Roll up the towel like this, lie down on the floor, and place the towel behind your neck.
Then, think of pushing your neck as if fighting against the ground.
Please do this movement 15 times for 3 sets.
It is repeated by holding for about 5 seconds each time.
I am someone who has done this exercise and definitely seen results, so I highly recommend it.
My husband also had a sore throat, but he says it feels better after doing this exercise a few times.
This exercise is really good for preventing neck disc problems.
Another effective item is the cervical pillow.
I can't mention the brand name here, but I really highly recommend it!!!
When I often get neck stiffness, I used to think it was solely because of straight neck posture and never considered that it might be due to the pillow.
However, while looking into ways to prevent neck disc problems, I read that pillow issues are also a significant factor.
Since then, I've been searching all over for the perfect pillow that suits me...
We really have at least 10 pillows in our houseㅠㅠㅠ
Then, by chance, I came across this cervical pillow while searching, and it's really so good, you know?
When I wake up after sleeping, my head feels refreshed, and ever since I switched to this pillow, I haven't had any acid reflux.
I used to think it was nothing special, but after experiencing my daily life being completely disrupted, I pay a lot of attention to my neck.
I have really improved a lot because I also do frequent stretching in between.
I thought I would suffer from a herniated disc in my neck, but I feel so much better that I think I can live.
I highly recommend these two ways to bring this small happiness.
Let's all prevent cervical disc herniation!
