Review of medication and lifestyle changes for angina symptoms

A few years ago, I suddenly had a spasm in the heart area that felt like my chest was being crushed in the middle of the night. This happened frequently, but after about 10 minutes, the symptoms slowly got better. At that time, I was old, often drank too much, didn't exercise enough, and someone in my family had ischemic heart disease. At the hospital, I had a cardiac ultrasound to check my basic cardiac function, and additionally did an exercise stress test and a spasm provocation test. They said it was variant angina, and I've been taking medication for over a year and I'm fine now.

Variant angina is a type of angina that occurs when the coronary artery that supplies blood to the heart contracts and temporarily blocks blood flow. In the early stages of variant angina, I exercised for more than 30 minutes every day and quit drinking and smoking. I ate a low-salt, low-fat diet that is good for angina, with lots of vegetables and fruits. Until then, I had a very difficult time because I had not exercised and had high-calorie, high-fat meals. I tried not to eat fatty meats, fried foods, or fatty soups because I was so scared of the pain in my heart, so I tried not to eat fatty foods like meat, fried foods, or fatty soups to prevent angina from recurring. And among fish, blue-backed fish is high in unsaturated fatty acids that lower cholesterol, which causes angina, so I ate it often, about 2-3 times a week.

When I looked up nutrients that help with angina, coenzyme Q10 came up the most, followed by magnesium, vitamin B complex, and policosanol. Among them, I consistently took Frombio Coenzyme Q10 and GNC Multivitamin B Complex Formula to prevent angina recurrence. Coenzyme Q10 is an essential ingredient for energy production in the body, and it is effective for angina patients because energy production and supply are important for the smooth functioning of the heart muscles. Vitamin B complex includes vitamins B6, B12, and folic acid, which are helpful for heart health and are effective in recovering damaged blood vessels in angina patients. I consistently changed my diet and took nutritional supplements to prevent angina recurrence, and I am now better, but I am still careful and cautious.
