지금이라도 열심히 건강한 식단 하고 싶은데 가족들이 잘 안먹어서 난감하네요
An international research team from the University of Glasgow and Newcastle University in the UK, the University of Bergen in Norway, and Dickens University in Australia announced that their analysis of UK Biobank data showed these results.
The corresponding author of the study, Professor Lars T. Padnes from the University of Bergen in Norway (Global Public Health and Primary Care), said, "Exercising at the gym and taking some supplements are important. However, the most crucial factor for healthy longevity is still enjoying delicious and nutritious food."
The research team wanted to quantify how changes in food intake affect increasing life expectancy across different age groups. They hypothesized that adhering to the UK dietary guidelines, the 'Eatwell Guide,' would extend life expectancy at each life stage. They also referred to this as a 'longevity-related dietary pattern.' Additionally, they developed a tool to estimate changes in life expectancy based on shifts in food choices. The team analyzed data from 467,354 participants in the UK Biobank.
According to research findings, on average, 40-year-old men and women who adhere to longevity-related dietary patterns can expect to increase their life expectancy by about 3 years through dietary improvements. In particular, those with the unhealthiest eating habits can live approximately 10 years longer by switching to longevity-related diets. Additionally, 70-year-old men and women can also live about 3 to 4 years longer in good health by replacing their unhealthy diets with 'longevity diets.'
The research team stated, "Reducing the intake of sugar-sweetened beverages and processed meats, and increasing the consumption of whole grains and nuts, are expected to significantly extend lifespan."
