참으면 절대 안되요 저도 추운날만 되면 화장실을 더 가게 되더라고요 전 제가 어디 아파서 그러줄 알았어요
There may be someone whose frequency of visiting the bathroom has recently increased.
In winter, the amount of water expelled through sweat decreases, so the body needs to excrete more through urine, leading to more frequent urination. Cold weather stimulates the bladder's detrusor muscle, causing a stronger urge to urinate. Some people delay going to the bathroom because they find it inconvenient, but this is not good for health. It can lead to bladder infections.
Cystitis is a disease caused by bacterial infection that leads to inflammation of the bladder.
Causes include E. coli invasion of the bladder, stress, and weakened immunity, but it can also occur when urine is frequently withheld. Urine contains waste products and harmful substances filtered from the kidneys. However, if urine remains in the bladder for a long time, bacteria in the urethra can gradually multiply, leading to inflammation, which can develop into cystitis if persistent. Especially if you urinate about 15 to 20 times a day, experience a dull ache in the lower abdomen when urinating, and do not feel refreshed after urination, you should suspect cystitis.
If cystitis keeps recurring, it can develop into a chronic cystitis called interstitial cystitis. The symptoms of interstitial cystitis include severe bladder pain when urinating and relief of pain after urination.
Especially when you have to sit continuously for work or study and cannot go to the bathroom, even holding urine for a short time can cause pain. Pain may be felt in the upper pelvis, lower abdomen, lower back, perineum, and vagina, and frequent urination and nocturia may also occur. Sometimes, blood may be mixed with the urine.
Cystitis and interstitial cystitis are treated with medications such as antibiotics, behavioral therapy, dietary adjustments, and physical therapy. If there is no effect or if severe pain persists, surgery may be necessary. Additionally, since cystitis tends to recur frequently, prevention through lifestyle improvements is important. It is recommended to break the habit of holding urine excessively and to urinate 4 to 6 times a day. Also, drink about 6 to 8 glasses of water daily to help expel bacteria from the body. When wiping after urination and bowel movements, always wipe from front to back. Most importantly, when experiencing severe bladder pain, it is essential to see a specialist for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Female cystitis is also frequently caused by sexual activity. This is because bacteria residing in the female vagina can be transferred to the urethral opening during intercourse, leading to infection. It is important to keep the genital area clean before and after sexual activity, and it is recommended to urinate after intercourse to empty the bladder.
