About three years ago, I was diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia and am currently undergoing treatment. A month ago, a friend was diagnosed with prostate cancer and is recovering after surgery. My doctor also told me that I need to have an ultrasound once a year to check whether it has progressed to cancer.
My question here is whether simple benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer exhibit different characteristics from the early stages. It is presumed that performing an ultrasound is to assess the situation rather than to determine the progression to cancer.
