What is the best way to treat male gynecomastia?

I am a middle-aged man suffering from gynecomastia. My chest protrudes too much, almost like a woman's. As a result, I feel very uncomfortable when I take off my clothes, and I am very self-conscious about others' gazes. Moreover, during summer, I can only wear short-sleeved shirts because of my chest, and I even have to bandage my chest severely due to its size, which causes me great concern. I am considering undergoing gynecomastia surgery to resolve this issue. Will the surgery improve my condition?
