Lee Hye-won (45), a former Miss Korea and wife of former soccer player Ahn Jung-hwan, introduced skin care methods for the changing seasons.

On the 4th, a video titled "Ihye-won’s Rich Hair & Honey Tips, Makeup Setting, and Skin Care Tips for Changing Seasons" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Second Hye-won'.

 

In the video, Lee Hye-won was asked how she manages her skin during seasonal changes. Lee Hye-won said, "When the seasons change, my skin first loses moisture and then produces more oil, disrupting the oil-water balance." She added, "In such cases, I apply a lot of ampoules, but if my pores are not clear, the ampoule won't be absorbed." She emphasized that it's important to first clear the pores before using ampoules.

 

Lee Hye-won said, "A simple method is to soak a soft towel we use in water, put it in a plastic bag, and microwave it for about 2 minutes." She explained, "It acts like a steamer, similar to what is used in spas, opening up the pores." She added, "Then, wiping with the end of the towel helps to remove impurities from the pores."

 

"Instead of steam towels, it is good to use facial cleanser after taking a shower with hot water when the pores are open." Lee Hye-won said, "There is definitely a difference between doing it and not doing it." In addition, Lee Hye-won recommended half-body baths. He said, "I do half-body baths about five times a week," and "It relaxes the muscles and is excellent for pore care during seasonal changes like now." What actual effects might the skin care methods introduced by Lee Hye-won have?


Steam towel

 

Using a steam towel can help maintain moist skin during seasonal changes. After soaking a towel in water, heat it in the microwave for about 30 seconds to 2 minutes to easily create a steam towel. Do not rub your face from the beginning; instead, gently place the towel on your face and remove it once the towel's heat has cooled. At this time, old dead skin cells soften, making it easier to remove them, and waste inside the pores is effectively expelled.

 

Using steam from the showerhead can also help with pore management. However, taking long showers with hot water can damage the skin. This is because the pressure of the water coming out of the showerhead can cause damage to the skin. Moreover, hot water temperature also threatens skin health. Prolonged exposure to hot water can excessively remove oils, disrupting the oil-water balance, and may even damage the skin barrier. There is also a risk of dilating capillaries, leading to or worsening facial redness. Therefore, for skin health, it is better to wash your face by gently rubbing your skin with lukewarm water in the sink rather than directly rinsing with water from the showerhead.

 

◇Half-body bath

 

Half-body bath is a bathing method where only the lower body is immersed in warm water, and it is known to be effective for skin care. In practice, when taking a half-body bath, the water temperature is high enough to open pores and eliminate waste and toxins from the skin. Additionally, as the body warms up, muscle tension relaxes and blood circulation improves, reducing swelling. However, staying in water that is too hot for too long can cause excessive sweating and lead to dehydration. Therefore, when taking a half-body bath, the water temperature should be maintained at around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, slightly above body temperature. It is recommended to limit the duration to about 20 to 30 minutes.
