If you keep wearing painful shoes and develop blisters on your feet... Here's how to take care of them

Wearing sandals in the summer can cause blisters on the feet from the straps rubbing. Additionally, choosing the wrong sandals can lead to aching ankles and sore soles.

If a blister forms, do not pop it; just leave it alone.

When wearing sandals in the summer, the straps often cause blisters on the feet. In this case, do not pop the blister; just leave it alone. Most blisters heal naturally if left untouched. If you intentionally pop it, there is a risk of infection from bacteria on the surrounding skin. If the blister is large enough to interfere with daily life or continues to grow, it is better to pop it. In this case, disinfection is very important. Apply disinfectant to the affected area, then use a sterilized needle to puncture the blister, and reapply disinfectant afterward.

Be careful when choosing sandals if you have wide feet, flat feet, fallen arches, or athlete's foot.

▷People with wide foot arches=

The width of the foot is the widest part when measuring across the foot. Wearing shoes that do not fit properly in the width can not only cause discomfort while walking but also lead to foot health problems. If you have wide feet, you should avoid pointed shoes among sandals. Wearing such shoes causes unconscious pressure on the little toe. Continuously walking like this can cause the toe joint to be unable to withstand the pressure and protrude outward, increasing the risk of developing bunions. A bunion is a condition where the little toe protrudes outward or becomes red in appearance. When a bunion develops, the pain in the toe causes the center of gravity to shift while walking. This can put strain on the knees, pelvis, hips, shoulders, and joints, leading to pain in other areas.

People with flat feet and people with hollow feet

The arch of the foot functions to distribute body weight. In a normal arch, the foot naturally moves in a slightly curved shape, so there is no pain. However, flat feet with collapsed arches and fallen arches do not evenly distribute body weight. An excessively high arch with a hollow foot causes weight to be placed on the outer side of the foot, which can lead to the ankle turning outward. Conversely, flat feet with collapsed inner arches shift the center of gravity inward. If this condition persists, the ankle may bend inward, potentially leading to a deformity similar to knock knees. In both cases, it is advisable to avoid sandals with low or flat soles. Without cushioning to absorb shock from weight-bearing, pressure is directly transmitted to the soles of the feet. Additionally, this can put strain not only on the soles but also on the knees and spinal joints.

▷People with athlete's foot=

People with athlete's foot should avoid wearing exposed sandals barefoot, as it can worsen the condition. Direct exposure of the feet to the outside can lead to secondary infections caused by fungi and bacteria. Patients with athlete's foot should wear cotton socks that can absorb sweat and keep the feet dry, then wear well-ventilated sneakers. If sneakers feel too tight, wearing breathable clogs is a better option. For those with athlete's foot, shoes should be changed once every three days, and newspaper should be crumpled and inserted into the shoes to remove moisture.
