Sharing my experience with treatment at St. Mary's Hospital for bipolar disorder.
People usually think of bipolar disorder as depression, but bipolar disorder is a different disease from depression. Bipolar disorder is a mental disorder in which a person's moods last for several weeks or months, and it is accompanied by depression and manic depression. If you take medication regularly, it is a disease that people generally do not recognize. I also started to have it in my early teens. Bipolar disorder often occurs during the growth period, and I am one of them. It starts with depression, anxiety, and then insomnia. Then, you become physically lethargic, have no motivation, lose your appetite, and are completely helpless to the point of not wanting to see a doctor. You don't even know that you have bipolar disorder until you experience it. Your daily life begins to fall apart. You lose everything you want to do, become lethargic, have no hobbies, and don't want to do anything. You lose interest in all daily life. This is bipolar disorder. Then, physical reactions appear, such as headaches, a pounding heart, indigestion, and stress begin to build up. These are very common symptoms of bipolar disorder. If it gets serious, it can worsen into manic symptoms. This is how it usually goes. You start sleeping a little and suddenly start spending money to help people less fortunate than you. You may also experience delusions of grandeur, as if you are a hero. Most patients refuse treatment when they start to have bipolar disorder. I did that too. But you shouldn't give up. If you do, you will collapse. You need to communicate with your doctor, consult frequently, and maintain a social life with people. You need to overcome it while taking medication. In my case, I had frequent meetings with my doctor at Seongmo Hospital, exercised regularly, reduced binge eating, and lived a stress-free life. You need to meet with your doctor, talk about your daily life and difficulties, and recognize what you are doing wrong. You also need to set very small goals and work towards them step by step. At first, I wondered if this could be cured, but bipolar disorder is treatable and can be overcome. You should never be discouraged and give up.
You will come to know yourself again, having suppressed and not expressed your emotions for so long. Be sure to overcome bipolar disorder through counseling and medication.
