Sharing my experience and efforts in treating depression after visiting a hospital.
Treating depression is like treating a cold for the mind. I'd like to share my experience of overcoming depression through treatment. I hope this will be helpful to those who are struggling with similar issues.
Just as you should go to the hospital when you're physically ill, you should also go to the hospital when you're emotionally ill. I suffered from depression, but I didn't realize it was serious until later, when I discovered it and began receiving treatment. If you feel emotionally unwell, I strongly urge you to visit a hospital.
My condition got so severe that I felt like I couldn't handle it on my own, so I went to the hospital, received counseling for depression, and was prescribed medication. After taking the medication for about two weeks, it definitely helped. I felt calmer. Unfortunately, the medication had side effects. I could have switched to another medication, but the medication made me feel sleepy and weak all day, so I gradually reduced the dosage. Of course, you should consult with your doctor before deciding on the course of treatment for depression.
Besides medication, what helped me was a regular and proper routine.
Adequate sleep: I try to go to bed before midnight, and I avoid napping no matter how sleepy I am. Even a little sleep during the day can affect my nighttime sleep. Changing my day-night routine is essential.
Healthy eating habits: Avoid delivery or instant food. If possible, cook your own meals. I'm not a great cook, but the process of preparing food for myself seems to be psychologically healthy.
Exercise: You don't have to go to the gym and do a massive workout. Just go outside and walk. "Walking" would be more accurate than "exercise." Physical movement is better for your mental health than being sedentary. If you have depression, you should definitely see a doctor, get counseling, and receive medication. Furthermore, you shouldn't rely solely on medication. If you strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you can overcome it.
