Post-nasal congestion and rhinoplasty: a review of easier breathing after surgery

I will share a review about my daughter's nasal congestion caused by allergies or rhinitis, and how her breathing became easier after nasal surgery for rhinitis.

 

I initially thought I just had a cold and my nose was blocked.

However, even after visiting the ENT clinic and taking cold medicine, my congestion remained congested, but even setting that aside, I struggled to breathe, which caused headaches and migraines.

Sometimes, I would deliberately lift my nose to breathe.

So, I was told I need to undergo a rhinoplasty with turbinate reduction surgery.

 

It is a surgery that involves removing part of the nasal concha to widen the space through which air can pass, allowing easier breathing.

My daughter's inferior turbinate is chronically enlarged, so medication alone could not alleviate her symptoms.

Therefore, the final choice was rhinoplasty for nasal congestion.

So, I visited Manghaeseong Ebin ENT, a specialized hospital for turbinate resection and rhinoplasty, and was informed about the ongoing difficulties with medication treatment, the surgical methods, and decided to undergo turbinate rhinoplasty.

Fortunately, in the past, surgery required local anesthesia or general anesthesia depending on the case, but now, with advances in medical science, rhinoplasty for nasal congestion is performed by removing or trimming the enlarged parts of the inferior turbinate using a laser.

The recovery period for laser resection of nasal septum and rhinoplasty was faster than expected.

 

It was a moment when I experienced how free I could breathe after undergoing a rhinoplasty surgery for nasal septum resection and turbinate reduction.

People often joke that they just simply breathe, right?

Breathing is a natural act, but I realize anew how difficult it has been for me to breathe through my nose all this time.

I felt grateful to be able to breathe comfortably.

I also experienced the disappearance of headaches after surgery and the feeling of clarity in my mind.

When I started breathing properly through my nose instead of my mouth, the dryness in my mouth and the occasional sore throat also disappeared.
