A button-sized lump was found under the cheek, and it is diagnosed as a skin cyst.

Since when, I started to notice some pimples or bumps on the lower left side of my mouth.

So I tried pressing around to squeeze it, but it didn't work.

Skin cysts require surgery to reveal the pocket because they are enclosed in a pouch-like structure filled with sebum, similar to acne.

However, I was very concerned that the location of that skin cyst was on the face rather than another area.

The doctor said not to worry because they carefully consider the wrinkles that form when smiling, frowning, or making various facial expressions, and they make incisions in a plus shape similar to the wrinkles to reveal the skin cyst.

I trusted the doctor and completed a simple procedure that took about 10 minutes, and he showed me the skin cyst lump that was removed. It was just a pimple lump.

At that time, I was in my mid-40s, and although the effects were definitely noticeable for about a week right after the surgery, as time went on, I couldn't tell as well. Maybe because I was young and a bit chubby, the signs didn't show as clearly.
However, now that more than ten years have passed, I've lost a lot of weight and gotten older, so perhaps because of that, when I smile or make expressions, I definitely see deeper hollows and more prominent lines on the opposite side.

Sometimes I wonder if I should have chosen a more cautious treatment method back then, but there really wasn't any other option besides surgery.

I think the blemish on my face was just bad luck.

Nevertheless, there is no recurrence of oil filling again, so I am satisfied with the surgical results.

Of course, if it looks excessively bad, Botox or other simple cosmetic procedures might be an option, but I haven't tried them yet.

The difference between a skin cyst and a regular pimple is that a skin cyst is relatively larger than a pimple and has a foul odor.

Additionally, skin cysts will refill with sebum a few days after being squeezed.

If a skin cyst is suspected, it is strongly recommended to visit a plastic surgeon rather than a dermatologist for surgical removal.
