A review of a visit to the pediatrician for fifth-grade elementary school children with tonsillitis and six prevention methods
On Hangul Day, my eldest suddenly developed a fever and had a swollen throat, so I took them to the pediatrician.
Swollen neck is caused by lymphadenitis, which, like tonsillitis, occurs due to weakened immunity and requires appropriate treatment.
Let's follow the six rules well to prevent lymph node issues.
On last Hangul Day, I watched the Black Eagles performance at the local festival.
I was planning to enjoy the festival after having lunch.
At the restaurant, the son suddenly said that one side of his throat was swollen and that he had no appetite.
My fever went over 38 degrees.
I hurried home to give him antipyretics, and luckily since it's morning, I scheduled an appointment at the pediatric clinic.
I have returned.
My son has always had enlarged tonsils, so his immunity has been weakened since he was young.
When exposed to a cold virus, the inside of the throat swells white, inflammation occurs, and the fever rises to 39-40 degrees Celsius.
It used to happen frequently. But this time, I felt swelling on the outside of my neck and a fever, so I was a bit surprised.
I always think about how my palatine tonsils in that throat are extremely swollen and have developed a white inflammation.
When I went to the hospital, they said I had lymphadenitis and prescribed antibiotics.
Lymph nodes, like tonsils, are immune organs where white blood cells within the lymph nodes
It reacts when bacteria or viruses invade, causing lymphadenitis.
The outside of the neck is noticeably red and swollen, accompanied by a high fever.
Loss of appetite, extreme fatigue, swollen throat with pain when pressed all indicate symptoms.
Symptoms when you have lymphadenitis.
All of this happened when my son complained that day.
Lymphadenitis is primarily treated with medication and rest.
In the end, I canceled going to the festival that day.
While taking the prescribed medication, on that sunny Hangul Day which was so pleasant...
I was just relaxing at home.. haha
The only fortunate thing is... because the hospital quickly prescribed medication and I didn't overexert myself, I only had a fever for that one day.
The next day, I returned to normal, took medication for a few days, and since then, I haven't been seriously ill and am managing well.
It's a pity we couldn't attend the festival... That night, I was comforted by the thought that I could at least see the fireworks through the window on the library side... Haha
I just found out that about 40% of the body's lymph nodes are concentrated around the neck.
So, if there is swelling or redness on the surface of the neck,
First, I think we should suspect the lymph nodes.
As expected, to prevent lymphadenitis, we must avoid catching colds or infectious diseases.
You just need to follow the six ways to prevent it.
1) Wash hands thoroughly
2) Boosting immunity through healthy eating habits
3) Improving health through regular exercise
4) Avoid crowded spaces during seasonal changes
5) If someone in the family has a cold or illness, do not share personal items (towels, cups, utensils, etc.).
6) Be careful not to touch the lymph node area with your hands
Tonsillitis, lymphadenitis, and laryngitis have slightly different symptoms and affect different areas.
Ultimately, since they are all inflammatory diseases caused by weakened immunity and exposure to viruses~
I hope you continue to stay healthy by following all the seasonal prevention methods like now.
