A review of taking supplements and changing lifestyle habits to treat osteoporosis

As I got older, starting last year, unusual symptoms that I had never experienced before began to appear in my body. The joints in important areas such as my shoulders, neck, knees, and wrists hurt, and the sounds caused by friction became more severe. Hearing about osteoporosis from those around me, I went to the hospital and had a bone density test, which showed that my bone density was very low and that osteoporosis was progressing. However, I judged that it was not yet time for surgery and that it was not yet very serious, so I personally tried to slow down the progression of osteoporosis by taking supplements, changing my eating habits, and adjusting my lifestyle. When it comes to osteoporosis, calcium is the first thing that comes to mind, so I searched the internet and bought a good calcium supplement based on reviews. I purchased a supplement called Jongkundang Calcium and Magnesium Vitamin D Zinc and started taking it daily.

Especially because vitamin D deficiency is a major cause of osteoporosis, I bought a specialized supplement containing only vitamin D and took it daily. It's NutriCore Organic Vitamin D 1000 IU.

A review of taking supplements and changing lifestyle habits to treat osteoporosis

I have been taking supplements, but I felt that it was not enough for effective osteoporosis prevention, so I decided to improve my lifestyle habits. First, since alcohol consumption and smoking are bad for osteoporosis, I significantly reduced my alcohol intake. I only drank small amounts of alcohol once or twice a month, when necessary. Additionally, since aerobic exercise is good for increasing bone density and maintaining bone mass, I started hiking and brisk walking. I went hiking once on weekends and did brisk walking 1-2 times a day. Also, because salt intake negatively affects bone density and worsens osteoporosis, I avoided salty takeout food and reduced salt in homemade meals. After several months of this lifestyle, I don't know if it's just my mood or truly, but I feel like the joint pain in various parts of my body has decreased compared to before. Currently, I am in the early stages of osteoporosis, but I think that if it worsens later, my quality of life will really decline, so I am trying to do everything I can from now on. I plan to get another bone density test soon.
