Long-term use of oral contraceptives has been linked to decreased bone density. While research results are conflicting and the correlation is not yet clear, it's still a cause for concern. Losing bone density early in life can lead to weaker bones later in life. If you can't stop taking oral contraceptives for gynecological conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome, there are other ways to support bone health. Eating prunes as a snack is a good option.
◇A study found that women taking oral contraceptives have lower bone density.
Research has shown that women taking oral contraceptives may have lower bone density. A research team at the Seattle Population Health Research Institute in the United States studied the correlation between oral contraceptive use and bone density in 606 women aged 14 to 30. The results showed that women taking oral contraceptives had 5.9% lower spine bone density and 2.3% lower total bone density than women not taking oral contraceptives.
A particularly pronounced decline in bone density was observed in women taking low-dose oral contraceptives (lower than 30 micrograms of estrogen). A Canadian cohort study of 524 women aged 25 to 45 found similar results. Compared to non-pill users, oral contraceptive users had significantly lower lumbar and femoral bone mineral density.
However, it's not yet possible to definitively confirm that oral contraceptives reduce bone density. The possibility remains a possibility, as conflicting research results exist. A research team from the Department of Family Medicine at Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital analyzed data from 4,068 premenopausal women aged 19 to 50 from the 2008-2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and found no significant correlation between the duration of oral contraceptive use and bone density.
◇If you're worried, take care of your bones with Purun… It helps improve bone density. bone
If you're concerned about your health, eating prunes can be helpful as a source of dietary fiber. Studies have shown that prunes are beneficial for bone health, regardless of whether or not you're taking oral contraceptives.
According to a recent study published in the September issue of the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, daily consumption of prunes reduces the risk of bone loss in women aged 18 to 25. This was the result of a 12-month randomized controlled trial conducted by Dr. Shirin Hushmand and her team at San Diego State University on 90 young women aged 18 to 25. When the research team had participants consume 50 grams (about 5 prunes) of prunes daily, they found that after 12 months, both women taking oral contraceptives and those not taking them experienced a significant increase in wrist bone density. The mechanism by which prunes benefit bone health is not clearly understood, but it is believed to be due to the inhibition of osteoclast activity, which resorbs bone.
Previous studies have shown that prunes are good for bone health. A clinical trial found that postmenopausal women who consumed 50 grams of prunes daily had higher bone density than those who did not. Indeed, prunes are rich in minerals, vitamin K, and phenolic compounds, all of which are beneficial for bone health.

I thought it was only good for bowel movements
I guess Purun is good for bones too..
Bone density is important...
Once it's broken, it can be restored
It might be difficult. Or it might not work.
