Sharing gout treatment methods | Two years of experience
It has been two years since I was diagnosed with gout, and during this time I have tried various methods. Now, my symptoms are somewhat stabilized, and I am able to carry out daily activities without difficulty. I hope this will help others suffering from gout like me, and I will share the treatment methods I experienced.
When I was first diagnosed with gout, the intense pain in my toes was really unbearable. After the hospital diagnosed me with high uric acid levels, I started taking the medication prescribed by my doctor consistently. The most important thing here was not to give up on medication therapy and to stick with it diligently. To alleviate my gout, I was prescribed Allopurinol and Colchicine, and these medications greatly helped reduce the pain.
Secondly, I realized that improving my eating habits is really important. At first, it was difficult to completely cut out red meat, seafood, and alcohol, but after experiencing gout attacks a few times, I naturally started to stay away from them. I especially tried to lower my uric acid levels by frequently consuming cherries and fruits rich in vitamin C. I believe that dietary changes played a very significant role.
Hydration is also essential. Drinking enough water is crucial for gout management. I try to drink at least 2 liters of water a day, and as a result, I felt that uric acid excretion became smoother.
Lastly, consistently exercising and managing weight also greatly helped in managing gout. It was more important to do light aerobic exercises regularly rather than intense workouts. As my weight decreased, the frequency of gout attacks definitely reduced, and the pain was also greatly alleviated.
Although I went through various trials and errors over two years, I think I have now found my own way to manage gout. I understand that gout is a chronic disease and difficult to cure, but through consistent management, I have experienced that it is possible to significantly reduce pain and live a healthy life.
