Sharing my experience of almost needing surgery after initial treatment for neck and lower back disc issues at Ansan Ttuntun Hospital.
This is a review of visiting Ansan Tunteun Hospital, where I was diagnosed with neck and back disc issues and almost underwent unnecessary surgery due to excessive treatment.
Additionally, to prevent unnecessary surgeries due to over-treatment, I also know effective exercises for early-stage neck and lower back disc issues.

A few years ago, I did a lot of sitting work and had poor posture.
I experienced severe back and neck pain, so I visited Ansan Tunteun Hospital, which appears to be a fairly large hospital.
The inside of the hospital was quite clean, and the nurses were also quite friendly.
The young doctor had a relatively somewhat cold impression.

What is the diagnosis after performing X-ray, CT, and MRI scans?

Cervical intervertebral disc herniation C3-4, C4-5๐neck disc herniation
Lumbar intervertebral disc herniation at L4-5๐lumbar disc

It was what is commonly called a neck and back disc herniation. But the doctor immediately recommended surgery. I was in my mid-30s.

I was surprised because the doctor mentioned surgery first, even though I had persistent back pain but no symptoms of numbness or paralysis.
Later, when I saw the medical certificate, it wasn't a definitive diagnosis but an clinical suspicion... and they said surgery...

I didn't understand why they were doing CT and MRI scans right after I arrived, but after hearing about the surgery, I thought it seemed like unnecessary treatment, so I decided to think about it and left. I had heard before from someone that hospitals that recommend surgery first should be avoided.
There was not even a common physical therapy prescribed, only medication was prescribed. Afterwards, I searched for exercises to do at home while taking the medication.
Rehabilitation has helped me improve a lot.

I think it was a condition that could have been sufficiently improved with exercise or physical therapy, but I felt that unnecessary treatment was given.

Touch the floor to the ground. Keep your knees upright, forming an A shape.
Adopt a lying position.
โ๏ธ Exhale and lift your pelvis upward.
Tighten your hips and hold for 1 to 2 seconds.
Breathe in while lowering your pelvis to the floor.

Lie on your stomach on the floor with your legs extended straight back.
