Sunchonhyang University Hospital Diverticulitis (Lower Abdominal Pain) Treatment Review
Hello?
Treatment review for lower abdominal pain (diverticulitis).
Last month, I experienced pain in my lower abdomen and received treatment.
At first, only the front of my stomach hurt, but later the pain extended to my lower back. Eventually, the stabbing sensation became much more intense.
Initially, I felt a tingling pain below my sternum, and recently I thought it might be a stomach spasm caused by food, but the pain gradually moved counterclockwise.
At first, I thought it was just gastroenteritis, so I left it alone, but I got worse.
Even though I was sick, I ate well, but my stomach has been bothering me since Monday.
Every time I press, I experience severe pain, so I went to the hospital to see if it might be appendicitis.
It seems that the local hospital says it's because a lot of gas has accumulated.
I was given a 'gas remover,' but even after taking it for a day, there was no improvement, so I transferred to Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital for further treatment.
Since I haven't had an appendectomy, I went to the surgery department, but they told me to get a CT scan first.
So, since it was an emergency, a CT scan was done quickly, and I was told it was a 'diverticulum of the colon.'
In the case of colonic diverticula, there may be no symptoms.
When inflammation occurs around the area, stool passes through and...
It is said that the inflammation continues to worsen and causes pain.
As the inflammation worsened and gas accumulated, I determined that it was dangerous to wait any longer because the gas had reached the appendix, so I was hospitalized for treatment.
Treatment of diverticulitis
In the case of diverticulitis, if inflammation has already occurred, it must be treated carefully!
I heard that if the inflammation persists and the abscess bursts, in the worst case, part of the colon may need to be removed.
I am already in a state with very high inflammation levels, so I decided to be hospitalized and receive antibiotic treatment.
Maintain fasting + administer antibiotics and continuously monitor blood tests
This is a process to check if the inflammation levels have been controlled.
On the first day, both water and food were prohibited, but now water is allowed.
It's been over 48 hours since I last ate, but thanks to the supplements, I wasn't very hungry.
From the next day, they told me to start eating food again slowly from rice porridge.
While continuing treatment with supplements, I was in so much pain lying straight on the first day that I screamed.
It was difficult to lie down and also difficult to go to the bathroom.
The next day, I was told I shouldn't just lie down all the time, so I held the IV drip and walked around the hospital corridor in circles.
Then, intestinal movements become more active, and the gas inside the stomach also increases.
The pain gradually decreases as it falls off little by little.
On the third day, I became quite comfortable sitting and lying down alone. It also felt much better after changing the location of the IV needle.
On the fourth day, after medication treatment, he was discharged on the fifth day. At first, I thought it was appendicitis, but suddenly it turned out to be diverticulosis...
Don't think it's nothing, everyone, and make sure to take care of your digestive health.
I am planning to buy and take supplements that include probiotics and multivitamins to boost my immunity.
I tried to stick to a diet by focusing on dietary fiber.
From now on, I will take care of managing what I eat.
Then, I hope you obtain various health information from Cashdoc and stay healthy.
Thank you
