A review of experiencing hand and arm numbness symptoms and treating them with stretching
At some point, I experienced the sensation of numbness from my arm to my palm.
Initially, I thought it was simple, but the symptoms of hand and arm numbness recurred every morning and lasted for more than a week, so I visited the hospital for treatment.
It could be degenerative arthritis, but since the symptoms of hand and arm numbness are still mild, the doctor recommended trying stretching exercises for treatment, and after doing so, I experienced relief from the symptoms.
One morning like any other, I woke up and experienced a tingling sensation in my hands and arms that I usually do not feel. It felt like blood was not circulating properly, and there was a prickling sensation as if an electric current was passing through. The palms felt numb and less sensitive. After some time had passed since waking up, these symptoms almost subsided. However, the tingling in my hands and arms recurred for several days, lasting from about ten to thirty minutes after waking up before disappearing. Feeling somewhat uncomfortable, I visited a pain clinic. After a light examination including X-rays and palpation, I was told it might be early signs of degenerative arthritis. However, the issue of poor blood circulation seemed to be a different matter, and since it was not very severe at the moment, I was advised to regularly stretch and apply heat packs while monitoring the condition of the tingling sensation. I was initially doubtful whether stretching could really improve this, but since no immediate surgery or treatment was necessary, I started stretching and applying heat. I gently rotated my arms and did some light muscle stretches, and for my hands, I slowly bent my fingers step by step, then stretched them out, combined with grip exercises using a light rubber ball. Even after starting these routines, the morning tingling persisted for about three weeks, making me wonder if they would be effective. However, after about a month or two, the symptoms gradually weakened, and after two months, the tingling in my hands and arms no longer occurred in the mornings. It was somewhat surprising to realize that mild early symptoms could be prevented or treated simply through stretching. Since then, I have continued light stretching, and so far, the symptoms have not recurred.
