A cyst protruding from the wrist? Honest review of ganglion cyst treatment
Since last year, cysts have started to protrude on the back of my hand and wrist.
This symptom is called a cyst. In my case, the cyst sometimes healed naturally over time, but other times it didn't go away for a long period. So, I went to the hospital to receive treatment for the cyst. I will honestly share my review of the cyst treatment.
What is a ganglion cyst?
When two cysts appeared simultaneously in the past
Ganglion cysts are fluid-filled sacs that develop around joints or tendons, caused by joint fluid leaking out. They are more common in women than men, especially in the teenage to 30s age group.
Cyst removal Before
My cyst was protruding on my wrist. When I touch it, some parts feel soft and others feel firm. The texture varies with each lump. When I bend my wrist up or down, the contours become more pronounced.
Sometimes, if I just leave it alone, it naturally disappears, and other times, it doesn't go away even after time passes.
The sore on my wrist has been lasting too long and hurting, so I was worried every time I moved my hand, and eventually I went to the hospital.
According to the doctor, the exact cause of the cystic lesion is not known, but in young people, it is thought to be related to fatigue and immune system issues.
Treatment methods for ganglion cyst
The treatment method for ganglion cysts can vary depending on their size and location. In my case, since it was on the back of my hand, I experienced discomfort with movement, and the lump was noticeable, so I was advised to have it physically removed without surgery rather than waiting for natural healing.
There are two main treatments for cysts besides surgery: injection therapy and ultrasound therapy.
Actually, I had previously undergone injection treatment, which involved inhaling and extracting with a syringe without anesthesia, so it was really painful. However, since it kept recurring, I decided to try ultrasound treatment this time!
Treatment for ganglion cyst, decided by ultrasound therapy
Ultrasound treatment involves inserting a syringe into the cyst area and using ultrasound to observe while aspirating.
We treat with a machine like the one in the picture.
Treatment process
After ultrasound therapy, physical therapy is administered. The physical therapy was infrared treatment.
After the completion of ganglion cyst treatment
After the treatment for the cystic lesion was completed, I received medication, and the treated area was wrapped with an elastic bandage.
I was able to carry out daily activities immediately, but I still experienced some pain right after the treatment.
Cyst removal After
Finally, the cyst has been completely removed!!
You can really feel the difference when you look at the before and after.
It is best to avoid using your wrist as much as possible for about a month after treatment.
Because even after treating the cyst, it is a disease with a high likelihood of recurrence, so overexertion is not advisable.
Since I have experienced recurrence several times, I can't help but feel uneasy at the thought that it might happen again somedayㅠㅠ For now, since I am fully recovered, I am trying to think positively.
If you develop a cyst on the back of your hand like me, it is important to treat the ganglion cyst early before it grows larger, so if it does not heal naturally, be sure to visit a hospital!
