(Post-treatment review) Peritonsillar abscess
If I had to choose the most painful experience I've ever had while alive, I would do so without a moment's hesitation.
I can tell you when I had a tonsil abscess ㅠ
At first, I thought, "Oh, I have a sore throat," because my throat was itchy.
Even after taking medication, my condition worsens instead of getting better, to the point where I can't swallow at all, and when I try to open my mouth to brush my teeth, it becomes even more difficult.
It was so painful that I couldn't even brush my teeth, and the pain was gradually spreading to my ear...
Still, I just thought I had a really bad sore throat.
I can hardly eat or drink anything and keep gagging, and my throat hurts so much that I'm crying.
My parents took me to the emergency room early in the morning.
Is the inflammation level in the blood test 18? Yes, it is. (Normal level is 0.5 or below)
At that time, I realized that what I had was not a simple sore throat but a peritonsillar abscess.
The ENT doctor cut about 1cm inside my throat with a knife.
I was already in so much pain that I couldn't feel the pain at that time.. After the procedure, I vomited a large amount of pus along with nausea.. ㅠㅠ
The nurse helping next to me was actually preparing a whole container.
He kept vomiting pus and blood into that container... His parents, who were watching nearby, were horrified.
Actually, I felt like I could survive after draining the pus like that.
The severe pain that was barely allowing me to open my mouth finally started to subside only then.
But that's not the end... I was hospitalized in the emergency room, and every hour, the attending doctor would come by to check on me.
At first, I kept opening my throat that I had cut ㅠㅠ Then I vomited pus again... It came back several times a day.
When I try to heal, it opens up... When I try to heal again, it opens up again... But doing that, the pain seemed to gradually improve.
Ah.. it's a memory of pain that I experienced in life ㅠㅠ
I was advised to undergo tonsillectomy because of severe tonsillar abscess pain, serious complications, and the tendency for recurrence, but I haven't had the surgery yet.
If the pain is so severe that you cannot open your mouth and radiating pain occurs in the ear area
Don't stubbornly think it's just a sore throat like me; please visit an ENT specialist.ㅠㅠ
