Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo self-treatment method: cure dizziness in just 1 minute

Dizziness caused by otoliths due to ear stones occurs when the otoliths inside the ear dislodge from their original position and stimulate the semicircular canals. The main method to return the otoliths to their original position is called otolith repositioning. This method is particularly a simple self-treatment for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) that can be easily attempted at home and is effective in quickly alleviating symptoms.

First, sit comfortably on a bed or sofa. Begin with your head turned approximately 45 degrees to the right. While keeping your head turned, slowly lie back onto your back, adjusting so that your head slightly extends beyond the edge of the bed. Maintain this position for about 30 seconds. You may feel slight dizziness, which indicates that the otoliths are moving; this is a normal response.

For self-treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, the next step is to turn your head 90 degrees to the left. Maintain this position for about 30 seconds. It is important to move slowly each time you turn your head, and sudden movements should be avoided as they can worsen symptoms. After that, slowly turn your entire body to the left and lie down on your side. Maintain this position for about 30 seconds, then rise slowly.

Through this series of movements, the otoliths return to their original position, significantly alleviating dizziness. This method allows for quick effects within one minute as a self-treatment for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), and if symptoms are not severe, regular repetition can also help prevent recurrence.

However, if symptoms of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo persist or become severe, it is essential to see a specialist for an accurate diagnosis and treatment. While benign paroxysmal positional vertigo itself is not a dangerous condition, neglecting it can significantly interfere with daily life, and especially in situations such as driving or working at heights where dizziness occurs, extra caution is required to prevent dangerous situations.

Additionally, to prevent benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) through self-treatment, it is recommended to regularly consume sufficient fluids and maintain good blood circulation around the ears through simple neck and head exercises such as stretching. If BPPV occurs frequently, it is also a good idea to seek guidance from a specialist and consistently try canalith repositioning maneuvers.
