Hello?
A man in his late 40s.
Tinnitus started in my right ear around February 2023.
The sound of "Woong Woong (Buk Buk)" is irregularly heard and there is a slight vibration.
I went to a nearby ENT clinic first and had a hearing test, but I was told there was no problem and was prescribed medication for a week. (The medication was ineffective.)
After that, it persisted for a while, but then the tinnitus disappeared, so I didn't go to the hospital again.
As the year 2024 began, I started experiencing tinnitus again, so I went to a nearby university hospital (ㅇㅈ Hospital) for further tests (blood test, hearing test, ultrasound?). They said there was no particular abnormality. (I brought the test results and medical records from last week.)
I was prescribed medication and took it for the first two weeks, but then I stopped. (The medications are Ginexin-E 80mg, Mygrizine 25mg, Noiromin 300mg, Otillen F 90mg)
The doctor's prescription was to 'ignore it,' and I was only advised to have a hearing test again after three months.
I have now learned what "ignore" means by watching several YouTube videos.
But I don't know how I should live from now on.
Last week, I visited the nearby hospital again, but there were no significant findings, and I was only told to go to a specialized hospital if it gets worse.
What I learned while studying is,
When I listen to 200Hz sound (YouTube tinnitus treatment sound), I do not hear the tinnitus.
Additionally, when I hear the sound of the air purifier, I don't experience tinnitus. Maybe that's why, when I go to the library, I don't hear tinnitus, and I can concentrate well, which is good.
What should I do from now on? Please give me your advice.
Any questions you have...
1. If there are no sleep disturbances, tinnitus is not actually very bothersome.
Is it okay to keep playing the tinnitus treatment sound (200Hz) on YouTube continuously, especially during sleep?
2. I want to have this sound as an audio file. Where can I find it?
3. As I become more sensitive to sounds, I keep drinking alcohol to try to fall asleep (drinking helps me sleep better). I was told not to focus on the tinnitus, but even if sleep is difficult, is it better to completely quit alcohol?
I do not smoke and drink one cup of Americano coffee a day. (I have quit coffee.)
4. Is there a hospital where I can receive consultation with a copy of my medical records from the tests I had? (I live in Nowon, Seoul. I am curious about both nearby hospitals and tertiary hospitals.)
I have visited several hospitals, but I only received mechanical and brief responses, which has led to distrust in ENT specialists.
It's a frustrating feeling.
Please give me your advice.
