Since he was young, my eldest son had a short stature and frequently had nosebleeds, to the point that he was bleeding from his nose every day.
When the child first had a nosebleed, their reaction was to cry as if they were about to die. So, I taught them how to handle it so they wouldn't be scared. From then on, the child, who became accustomed to the daily nosebleeds, reached a level where they could handle it skillfully on their own.
They didn't seem afraid and naturally blocked their nose, even putting ice on it, as they learned their own way to handle nosebleeds. However, the frequency of nosebleeds gradually increased, and there were many days when they experienced double nosebleeds.
During that time, I was bleeding from my nose excessively and even fainted due to dizziness. Eventually, I was diagnosed with anemia and decided I couldn't ignore it, so I went to a well-known ENT clinic in Jeonju for consultation. They explained that my nasal blood vessels were weak, which caused frequent nosebleeds, and recommended electrocoagulation. Since I am still young, I was hesitant.
After consulting with several places, nine out of ten told me the same thing, but only one place said that only the child is having a hard time, and even if they undergo electrocoagulation, there is a possibility of recurrence. They also said that the condition might improve as the child grows and recommended feeding lotus root. (Now, we are a regular customer at that hospital.)
So, from that time, I started feeding them lotus roots.
The ingredients of lotus root include a variety of components such as water, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins, with water making up 80% of the content, and it contains a large amount of vitamin C.
Bitangshin C is not a component commonly found in root vegetables, but lotus roots are rich in vitamin C. I was surprised to learn this fact.
Lotus root is effective in recovering from fatigue and has many excellent benefits such as cancer prevention and anemia prevention.
Since then, I started making lotus root dishes for my child, but perhaps because of a poor appetite, they didn't eat well with cooked lotus root. So from that time, I began drying the lotus root to serve as tea or grinding it into powder to add to food and cook.
You can easily make powder by drying with a food dehydrator and then grinding it in a blender. I also bought a dehydrator because of lotus root. Hehe.
And for children who do not eat breakfast, I am consistently making and giving them juice using seasonal fruits.
As a result, I have gotten rid of nosebleeds, and now I only experience them about once or twice a year, but the nosebleeds that used to happen daily during childhood have disappeared.
My child once said that lotus root is a wizard.
I wish I had known sooner that lotus root is such a good ingredient~~~ I'm really grateful to the doctor who recommended lotus root.
He is now very healthy and dreams of becoming a national Taekwondo athlete, so he is working out hard.
Today, I also departed for Andong to participate in the final selection for the World Cadet National Team.
This is our son growing up healthily and stylishly.
By the way, I got permission from the child to use the photo. Haha
